Before you go
A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in New York.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“My family visited this farm last month for pumpkin picking and apple cider, and we had a blast! While the farm is on the small end, it is well kept, clean, and their employees are quick to replenish both the pumpkin house and the pumpkin patch so that people can take nice photos all day long. They also offer other activities, such as a pumpkin bouncy house and hay rides that were running along the pumpkin patch. They sell beautiful flowers, and seasonal fall decor in their greenhouse, and of course - sooo many different kinds of pumpkins - all shapes, sizes and colors! We ended up picking up 4 different pumpkins to display in our front yard, and the pricing was pretty decent. Their apple cider and apple cider doughnuts were delicious and fresh, and our son even enjoyed one of their pumpkin cookies. We highly recommend visiting during their fall season! Also bonus point - they have an adorable farm cat that reminds me of our own ginger kitty back home.”

“The Schmitt Family Farm was beautiful to see. I’ve driven past it a few times and always been in awe of it. Luckily saw a posting for pumpkins and decided to message the owner. They were easy to communicate with and made a generous pumpkin donation to a school’s upcoming program. Greatly appreciate how easy it was to get to their farm from the city area and for the assistance in moving the pumpkins. Thank you so so much! Highly recommend visiting the farm and bringing your friends and families. Can’t wait to visit again!”

“My family and I had such a wonderful experience at the farm! My nearly 3 year old loved the pumpkin patch, all of the face in hole picture props, the tractor ride, and especially the animal train! The pumpkin selection inside of the greenhouse was absolutely incredible with so many beautiful heirloom pumpkins to pick from. The apple cider donuts and fall cookies were fresh and delicious. A trip to this farm will be our new annual tradition!”

“Great outing at the Schmitt family farm today ! It was our first time there, we enjoyed the roasted corn, hot apple cider and the cookies ! Fun pumpkin patch with kid friendly activities like hay rides, cute train ride, bouncy house and a water feature duck race. Great fun decor especially the huge selection of metal signs, and don’t forget all the pretty flowers!! Highly recommend !”

“We had a wonderful time in the farm. And despite the many varying comments, I just wanted to say it’s fair for the price we have paid to support local farms. They were friendly and even the cashier missed out the items we have stated to purchased, it’s absolutely not an issue when things can be rectify and we move on. Since it’s a family operated farm, it is impossible to have a perfectly managed farm with limited staff to keep the cost down. So I think $5 per person is reasonable to go into a well maintained and safe for kids to play in. Perhaps, and just a suggestion, if customer purchase over $20, perhaps you can give a reimbursement or discount for the entrance fee. Just an incentive for customer to visit and buy, and perhaps get more referrals? As for the train ride, I thought it was a bit fast and short. Maybe the ride can be a bit slower as toddler may get scared with the speed. Again, just something I felt it could be improve. Other than that, we had a great time.”

“It's a pretty nice farm. You pay 8 dollars to get in and a hay ride. There's some games and photo ops. The stuff on the farm is pretty expensive, I wouldn't buy anything from here. It's a nice place for kids to run around and look at pumpkins.”

“Cute idea but a lot of false advertisement and we paid $8 each for really nothing. We were not planning on doing the hay ride but it was not set up. I almost broke my tooth on a candy apple. The donuts were good. There was no roasted corn, apple cider, or mocktails like advertised. We bought a pumpkin but definitely not worth $8 a person just to get in. EDIT: As a business women i could not understand how over the top the owner’s response was. My review was not rude just honest and instead of accepting responsibility and apologizing As we were One of the first ones there so we understood things happen. I was just sharing My experience. Never expected such a response from the rude owner. I will definitely not be back. However, It’s not just me so I’m not offended. If you read The reviews they are rude to everyone.”

“I get the same type of flowers every year. This year I decided to give Schmitts a try. The flowers didn't last long, barely grew, barely flowered. Always taken care of my flowers the same every year. Complained and asked for accommodations and got nothing. They lost my business! *Edited since looking through reviews: I can't believe how they respond to their customers on here! So rude and zero accountability! Can't wait to see how they respond to my review.”
