Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Montana.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
  • Payment notes on file: Mastercard. Cash still helps at smaller stands.

“My two boys, 6 yr. old and 2 yr. old, had a ton of fun at the Applestem Corn Maize this weekend! I admit that the $9 entrance fee for ages 5+ can add up for a family to go, but we were there for almost 4 hrs. having so much family fun, so it was worth it to me! The new white slide is awesome and a new favorite for the kiddos! My kids probably spent close to an hour just on the one slide. There is a 2nd big slide as well as 2 other playground pieces to climb and slide on. There is a duck race area where you operate an old fashioned pump to pump water and push your duck across a pathway. There is a petting area with a pony, pigs, hens and goats. We love visiting the animals! You can also find neat facts printed and displayed around the area about the animals. There was a neat hay stack maze set up for the kids that they could run through and even run and hop across the top of. The actual corn maize area was starting to fall apart, but with it being so late in October plus our early snow, I fully expected that. If you are mainly going to see the corn maize, you want to go right when the maize opens in September. They have 2 tractor-pulled rides. One is a cow train where the kids get to ride in cow decorated little cars, very cute! The 2nd ride is a more traditional ride resembling a horse-drawn buggy minus the horse, that can fit your whole family inside including the grown-ups. You might have to wait a bit for your turn on a tractor-pulled ride, but it is well worth it! My boys enjoyed looking through all of the pumpkins and finally selecting one before we left. Everything I mentioned above was included in our $9 ticket. It was nice not to have to pay extra to visit the animal area or go on a tractor-pulled ride like other pumpkin patches often charge you separately for. For additional money there was a roast your own s'mores over an open fire, fresh popped kettle corn, and other snacks and drinks. I highly recommend Applestem Corn Maize and Pumpkin Patch for families with young kids. This is our 2nd year in a row going and the kids love it so much, it looks like it has become our new family fall tradition! Thank you Applestem Corn Maize for providing my family with such a fun day! My 6 yr. old loves how you make changes each year to add something new or make improvements. He says the new white slide is his favorite thing to do at the corn maize now! I know it wasn't an easy task assembling that slide with our Montana wind, so I thought you would be happy to hear that it is a success and all the kids love it.”

“I chaperoned a 1st grade field trip here. There were alot of fun activities for the kids. The hay pit and the slide hill were definitely favorites. The animals were kind of in the back so some kids didn't see them but the ones who did really enjoyed feeding and petting them. Probably best for kids under 10-12 though older ones should still enjoy the maze.”

“The qpplestem sunflower in August and corn maze in September was great for families .The staff was polite and seemed to interact with the guests . Ir was fun to buy sunflowers and pumpkins after each event this year . Love the pallets .. wish they were for sale along with the pumpkins and sunflowers . Such a pretty drive to craig , Montana”

“Amazing fun! Good food and more to do then the old maze. Can't wait to make it in the summer when the sunflowers are alive. Pumpkins, hot chocolate, s'mores, animals and more! A great experience for the hole family.”

“The corn is nice and high this year and the maze is great a challenge. All the critters love the scratches and treats, plenty of amusements for any age and a nice afternoon of fun for the whole family.”

“Could easily spend a couple hours here... More if you get lost in the maze 🤣”

“It was super fun, Huge and just nice to be outside on a moonlit night. Nothing scary to jump out at us except a freeloaders deer, which is nice. Halloween is not my thing, there's enough death and crazy stuff out there these days, why scare the kids more. That's just me though. This place had smaller mazes for kids and a place to pick out and buy pumpkins of all sizes. They had a petting zoo of lil cows, sheep and goats. Super cute. You can purchase a cup of feed for .25 cents I think. They have a fire pit area where you can purchase smore kits to cook yourself. Coco, hot cider, snacks and then a food truck with hand made fresh burgers etc. They were out of street corn when I was there but it sounded awesome. Oh yeah they had a human foosball area, rubber duck races and little tractor pulled rides around the maze. DID I SAY IT WAS FUN? YEAH IT WAS! 😉”

“The only thing that would make this place better, would be a U-Pick pumpkin patch. If that’s what you are looking for, this isn’t the place. But if you are looking for a fun place to bring your kids, where they can play games, pet animals and make s’mores, this place is great. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit!”
