A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Missouri.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
  • Payment notes on file: American Express, Discover, Mastercard, VISA. Cash still helps at smaller stands.

“I searched for alternative pumpkin farms to take the kids to this year because the ones near me were either overly crowded, or cost nearly $20 just to gain entry. Austin farms is about a 45 minute drive from where I'm located, but it was worth the trip. They didn't have an entry fee, you just walk in and can start doing the activities while you wait for the next pumpkin patch trailer to arrive. I love pumpkin season, and I will say, if you are in it for the pumpkin picking experience, this is the best pumpkin patch I have *ever* visited in and around the St. Louis area. The pumpkins were very impressive, lots of very healthy looking rotund gourds to choose, and most of them are still on the vine, so you know they aren't trucked in and laid there for an inflated price. Keep in mind, that means this is the true "Charlie Brown" pumpkin patch - rows of hills and lots of vines, but they leave ample room between the rows to walk, so you could stay on the paths and nab one growing nearby. I recommend high socks or pants if you're going to wade into the jungle of healthy pumpkin plants to find your perfect Halloween Jack-O-Lantern subject. As far as the activities for the kids, they had plenty of farm ingenuity born recreations of carnival games, corn shucking, inflatables, kid tractor train, corn maze, and a nice tractor spot for your yearly pumpkin patch family photo. Enough for the kids to do for about an hour and a half before you leave. Overall, I am recommending this patch because it is family run, not too far, but not too close to the bustle, reasonably priced, and have fantastic looking pumpkins. They have pumpkins for decoration as well if you just want to come by and pick some up for your front porch. We also purchased two loaves of homemade sourdough (Honey Oat and Dill) that were great. Eat lunch beforehand or bring a snack, they have soda and waters for sale.”

“I took my 2 sons, ages 5 and 2, to Austin Farms and we had a blast! All of the activities are free! This is a true small family farm, all 5 adult family members are working their butts off to make this a great experience for visitors. They had a bounce house, an inflatable obstacle course, and an age 3 and under mini-bounce house. The other games/activities are homemade replicas of popular games like ski ball, basketball shooting games, water squirting races etc. they also have some old corn shelling(?) equipment that kids and adults can use that is so fun and cool! They have some corn kernel filled sand boxes that were a huge hit, a corn maze, and pumpkin patches! AND they provide loppers for you to use when you are harvesting your pumpkin! No awkwardly twisting your pumpkins off those spiny vines here! What a game changer! And they had carts for hauling your pumpkin to your car. The corn maze was fun, barrel train ride was fun. It is great! Pack a lunch and snacks because this is a farm that has fun activities, not a big commercial place with food vendors etc. So if you want to support them by spending money, skip buying your produce from the grocery store this week and buy their delicious peppers, apples, squashes, tomatoes etc. from their stand or put some cash in the donations box. They do sell cold soda/water and they take Venmo!”

“Well worth the drive from St. Louis! Our 2.5 year old daughter loved the bounce houses and corn pit. The pumpkin patch was out surrounded by beautiful tall trees. It was a fun experience to be able to cut our pumpkin straight from the vine. Everyone was very nice and it was a true family run experience.”

“I've heard great things about this Pumpkin Patch so I had to check it out. I love that there's no admission and plenty of activities! It's easy to get to and right off the road. The people there are very friendly and Pumpkin prices are pretty low! My kids loved it and we will definitely be returning.”

“Local, Fresh, and super friendly owners, who all live on the property. This Saturday, Sept 30, is their Annual Fall Festival with pumpkin picking and corn maze! They have ghords, corn stalks and hay bales, princess pumpkins, black & white pumpkins, mini pumpkins and pie pumpkins.”

“Took my daughter and I to austin's farm for the first time. My daughter loved this.Any other place we have been in the last four years. The pumpkin patch was phenomenal. The prices are extremely affordable.”

“Went here with my boys and my husband this afternoon and we all had a great experience!! It was so fun! The owners are so friendly and helpful! We will be back!”

“I messaged them asking a question. They read it and ignored it. I'm perfectly fine being told no, I hear it a lot. But as a small business, to completely ignore a customer's question is just disrespectful. Thats telling me that im not worth 5 seconds your time. We love the pumpkin patch, have gone there 2 years in a row now. Its like 5 minutes from our house. But if im not worth 5 seconds of their time to answer a message, then ill go somewhere else next year.”
