Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Connecticut.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“I try to get to New England each autumn, and this is always my first stop. Last time I even made a detour to also make it my last stop on the way back home. This place has the BEST cider donuts I’ve ever had. And I’ve tried a lot of different ones. None have ever compared to the ones made onsite at Beardsley’s - they really are the gold standard! You can’t go wrong with any of their baked goods, though. Their pumpkin cheesecake is to die for. It’s specifically the item I returned for on the way back through. I tried a sample on my first visit and thought about it for the entire two weeks I was traveling around NE. Their farm store has a plethora of unique goods, including jellies, jams, sauces, books, and spirits. And the staff is so warm and friendly! I’m a customer for life.”

“We are new in town and had our first visit to Beardsley's Cider - We had a blast! (We are accustomed to Virginia orchards so we did not know what to expect) Apple Picking was awesome... variety of tree types, parking is free and gets you right near the orchard... staff are so kind and friendly. Make sure you have cash - apple picking is cash only. The store takes credit cards...and sells pies, jams, sauces, cider, donuts... and was not super crowded like other nearby farms. We came home, made our annual pie with the apples and it was DELICIOUS. We absolutely loved our visit and look forward to making it a part of our family traditions.”

“Had a wonderful time apple picking with my family! The orchard is beautiful and well-kept, with plenty of trees to choose from. The country store is charming and offers fresh, homemade treats — the apple cinnamon donuts are made right in front of you and are absolutely delicious, as are the pies. They also carry a nice selection of local jarred goods like honey and jams. A perfect fall outing spot — highly recommend!”

“We arrived about 15 min after its opening and we’re able to pick our apples and get our cider donuts in less than half an hour. We saw many kids in wagons and so many different types of apples ready for picking. We go for the Macouns. I like that the orchards are shorter and there is a ton of low hanging fruit for the kiddos! The cider donuts are fresh, soft, and tasty. I highly recommend the trip!”

“Had a great time at White Hills Distillery. We had a flight of their bourbons, Maple was group favorite. Also had a Forbidden Apple made with applepie moonshine and a Cider House Mule, a mocktail made with apple cider. We also got some fresh pressed hot apple cider, too!”

“Great place! Store has tons of tempting products and smells amazing inside. Orchard is the perfect size to walk around with many varieties. Love that they charge per lb and not per bag (requiring buying more than a person might want)”

“We went apple picking. We went late in the seasons so some of the supplies were limited. However the apples were delicious. In addition, the cider, donuts and pie was also incredible. I would definitely go back.”

“Great place to pick apples! 🍎 The apple pies, cider donuts, and freshly made cider are an absolute must! The orchard is family-friendly and perfect for a fun day out — take the whole family!”
