Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Alberta.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“We visited this garden on July 20. Strawberries, haskap berries (honeyberries), raspberries, rhubarb, as well as a variety of vegetables, flowers, and other produce were ready for picking. We followed their Instagram page to stay updated on when different crops were available for harvest, which was very helpful. There is parking on-site. When you arrive, you check in with the staff before entering the farm. At the end of your visit, they weigh everything you picked and you pay accordingly. They accept cash and debit cards. Credit cards are also accepted, but there is a small processing fee. The lady working there was incredibly kind and welcoming. The prices were very reasonable. There were some mosquitoes, but they weren't too bothersome. I enjoyed the visit much more than I expected. It was such a relaxing and refreshing experience, and I left in a much better mood. I would definitely recommend visiting if you enjoy spending time outdoors and picking your own fresh produce.”

“We look forward to visiting this farm every year for fresh strawberry picking! The strawberries are always sweet and delicious, and the experience is wonderful for the whole family. They have everything you could want—fresh vegetables, beautiful flowers, cherries, raspberries, homemade pies, local honey, and so much more. Everything is fresh, the farm is well maintained, and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. It's become one of our favorite summer traditions, and we highly recommend stopping by to support this amazing local farm!”

“I really recommend this farm! It is not very popular yet, so it’s not crowded. We found the best strawberries in Canada at this farm! Very sweet and quick to get bad :) (this is good actually). All the strawberries I had before felt like plastic (different farms in BC and AB). It is a family farm and they have lots of season fruits and vegetables you can get from (see the photo with the board of produce list). Thank you Billyco!”

“One of the best strawberry picking experience I had, and I’ve picked in few provinces and countries! They explained very well where the patches are. You can tell they take care of the farm, straws were laid on the ground to keep berries dry and away from bugs. It was so clean, so well spaced, and the staff were so kind. It’s a bit of a drive from Calgary, but we certainly will be back!!”

“This is my second year visiting Billyco. It is truly an amazing place with every fruit and vegetable you can imagine. It is a very rewarding experience to pick them yourself and an exceptional educational opportunity for children to learn where their food comes from. The owners are very friendly and inviting. I am very grateful to be able to support our hard working Canadian farmers.”

“This was our second time visiting Billyco U-Pick with our family. The kids and everyone had a great time! The lady who runs the place is absolutely wonderful, so kind and welcoming. I suggest calling them the day before to check what you can pick on the next day. Highly recommended for a fun family day! 👌🍓🍒”

“We visited this beautiful Upick farm during the Alberta Open Farm days. Great place to pick fresh veggies and fruits and very friendly hosts. We will be coming back for sure!”

“Stopped by on a Farm tour during Alberta Farm Days 2025 and we are adding this spot to our annual Summer Day Trip spot list! So much selection and variety of berry species. It was a pleasure to meander and pick… even with kids (for a while). It’s 100% worth the detour stop here! And you can also check o it Ellis Nature Centre a few kms down the road while your here!”
