Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Michigan.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“The cherry stop is a must stop place to visit when you are in Traverse City Michigan! There is nothing like a Traverse City cherry! No other cherries will do! From dry cherries, to cherry cookies, cherry cakes, cherry juice, and anything cherry you need to stop at the cherry stop! Yum! Yum!”

“I love their cherry shortbread cookies! I buy them every time I’m in town. They’re a wonderful taste combination of cherries, butter, and almond. This time, I also purchased their cherry jam. It was a wonderful taste and has the just right amount of cherry chunks.”

“Cute boutique with local cherry and lavender products. We bought cherry salsa and chocolate covered cherries.”

“Nice beautiful place I like the price”

“I bought a cherry handpie at the Cherry Festival yesterday. It does taste good, although very disappointed there was hardly any actual cherry filling inside.”

“Small shop, not a lot of choices. Not impressed with their chocolate covered cherries either... Find another place to get your cherry fix!”

“I purchased Cherry Butter and taste only cloves. If I hadn’t read the label I would have called it red clove jam. It tastes nothing like an old fashioned butter. Really, this recipe needs a makeover. Such a waste of cherries. I grew up eating and making apple butter and this is totally missing the mark of a rich combination of cinnamon, spices and fruit.”
