What you can pick
In October, check what’s currently ripe before you go. Seasons below are typical windows for Michigan, not a guarantee for this exact farm.
Before you go
A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Michigan.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“Cranes or orchard review First I have to say this is so much more than just a you pick orchard. It has a wonderful bakery. They do a wine tasting and they even have a sit-down restaurant. In the restaurant I ordered a pie sampler which included four cups with four different pies in it for 10 bucks. I had it with the scoop and vanilla ice cream and it was phenomenal. As far as the food goes, much of the food I've seen on other people's tables look good. But my other half ordered there supposedly renowned sloppy. Joe which was served open face with some processed American cheese on it. Of course our server. You did a wonderful job. Ask me if we liked the food and I told them that if I was the chef I would be embarrassed to have something come out of my kitchen.there sloppy, joe was tasteless. It was right out of a can and the best part of it was to processed cheese. So no not good. And what proved to be a disappointing meal turned into some wonderful service. The server while not asking did not bill us for the sloppy. Joe. So I rate this place five star for service and six stars for pie It's a wonderful place to enjoy a pie. Maybe a Michigan wine and it's definitely worth checking out. It's really quite a facility. They even have a corn maze. Looks like fun.”

“Berries, apples, peaches oh my. Crane Orchards left us feeling high. (In a great way). A scenic farm loaded with patches of produce. This is a great activity while visiting the west side of michigan. Clean, inviting and spacious this is a wonderful activity to get yourself and your kids closer to the food we consume. We spent two action packed hours picking blueberries and raspberries and the total price was around $10.00 for nearly a pound of blueberries and a couple of containers of raspberries. The staff was also helpful and accommodating. A fun way to spend a few hours”

“What a great apple orchard to pick your own apples. Plenty of helpful girls, to check you in....as to where to park, or are you there for the corn maze? And direct you to the different variety of apple rows. At least 4 varieties at the moment of apples...try a free sample before and see which you prefer to pick. Other varieties were not ripe yet for picking...check out the website for updates. Was quite enjoyable. Prices are reasonable..per pound, as they weigh them when you are ready to check out. Only cash or credit card. Nicely organized and great fun outing.”

“This place is my favorite orchard in Michigan! Love to pick their cherries and apples. The ciders are awesome! Especially the one with LAVENDER in it! Found a new favorite Riesling here too. We have gone to the cider dinners here and had a fabulous time. The food was outstanding and the ciders great. Looking forward to their next cider dinner. Lots of indoor as well as outdoor seating. Wines, ciders, donuts, pies all available to purchase. Staff are friendly and you can tell they enjoy their jobs!”

“Friends, family, and coworkers have all recommended this place. My partner brought home a blueberry pie last year after visiting his hometown. Went to Cranes with his dad over the weekend, so excited that they had a Cherry Crisp featured. Its delicious. The crisp is perfectly sweet and the cherries are tart and so fresh and so juicy! Its even better when you warm it up in the oven... with some ice cream! Can't wait to come back and pick our own apples in the fall!”

“Cute but long corn maze, ~1.15 miles between two separate sections. Lots of places to explore, well kept trails, and a few places to get views from. The first half was definitely more intricate than the second half, but the whole thing is a full design which is really cool. The cost was $8 per person and it took us around 45 minutes to complete.”

“Lovely u-pick farm. Easy in and out and great prices. Not crowded either. The blueberries are perfect right now and the raspberries are coming in a couple days. They also have tons of apple varieties, peaches and other fruits across the season. Be sure to stop in the restaurant and winery right across the road as well!”
