Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Texas.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

What visitors say

“I went with a school and my students had fun but it was so hot! We had to be refilling our water bottles. If you go take sunscreen, mosquitos spray, hats, and sunglasses and a lot of water! They have portable restrooms outside and a working sink to wash hands. The kids enjoyed fun free activities like bike racing, water duck racing, playground and painting the horses and cows. The bakery smelled delicious and the fruits and vegetables in the market looked fresh and tasted great. My son wants to return with his siblings in the near future.”

“Thus review is about picking strawberries. It's definitely not about saving money... it's about a fun family activity AND probably the best strawberries you'll ever have! I'd advise going early in the season when your chance of cooler temperatures is better and you aren't relying on newer waves of ripe strawberries (we went earlier our 2nd visit and had better picking). The big "general store" and bakery look great but we just haven't happened to buy anything on either of our trips here.”

“Fun spring time activity if you go strawberry picking. They also have a little grocery shop with their produce and a small in house bakery with some pretty nice bites! Pie is my favorite”

“Dewberry farm has always been our farm of choice but this year I decided to change things up and try out Frobergs Farm due to cost and travel time. I was nervous because Dewberry is so big but I was happily surprised with Frobergs. The space is small in comparison to dewberry but that actually is a nice thing. You aren’t having to walk long distances to get to the attractions. They are pretty much all right next to each other. There was also a lot of things to do. The sandpit, raceway, berry fun land (a wooden playground with swings and slides), a corn pit, corn maze, pig races, candy cannon were all free. The other attractions (strawberry express, jumping pillows, bee coaster, apple blaster, paintball gallery, flower picking and pumpkin painting) costs tokens (which at the time of this review tokens were $1 per token). You have to pay with cash for the mining and petting zoo. We ended up spending $30 on 30 tokens for three kids and one adult which ended up being too many tokens. Overall I was really happy with our trip and will be going back again.”

“Went for strawberry picking. We couldn’t find ripe strawberries as we went a little later however there were lots of other stuff to do. There were some other things to do like the tractor ride// face painting// corn box// a play area with swings and slides..// a jumping pillow// sand pit and other things as well. Some of those require tokens (tractor ride 4 tokens per seat// paintball shooting 4 tokens// jumping pillow 3 tokens (15 for $12). They also did a candy cannon while we were there. There were also some food/drinks vendors (lemonade, cotton candy, chicken, shaved ice with fruits, mexican street corn, cheese sandwiches and so on). Overall a fun place to spend the day when the weather allows.”

“Beautiful day ro pick strawberries! Field of strawberries is really big, lots to gather but muddy in places. This place is geared toward entertaining kids with lots of activities for young ones. Food of the fair variety, hot dogs, fried food, corron candy, lemonade and slushies. There is also a place to purchase plants of all kinds and other farm-type goods like eggs and milk. You have to purchase and use their bucket but I imagine you can reuse the following year.”

“My kids love strawberries, and they enjoyed picking them too. But it's so expensive! They even charge to enter to the strawberry farm now. If y’all come make sure to try Greak’s Smokehouse, the meats were amazing!!”

“I went yesterday for the first time not to pick strawberries, but to purchase. They do sell them in containers. Unfortunately, the quality is not the best. There were quite a few with mold on them. The taste of the ones that weren’t bad aren’t the best.”
