Before you go
A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Virginia.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“Came here for the July 4th weekend on a Friday and had an absolute blast of a time picking different berries. That weekend was perfect timing for blueberries with plentiful amounts of blueberries picked fresh off the bushes. Much easier to pick compared to the raspberries which are nestled deep within a grove of leaves. The blueberries were extremely flavorful and quite different than what you would get in the store with a much more floral taste. Plenty of parking and the people working the front desk were extremely friendly and the prices are quite reasonable.”

“It was the first time ever for trying Black Raspberries form me. The walk between the isles of berries is wonderful but bug spray and socks is recommended. Also please don't eat more than you will buy, everyone knows how to pick them when they are ready, but there is a whole year of weeding, watering, pruning and planting new rows, for you to enjoy, pick your own and pay for them at a already discounted price. If you would not do that in the shop why here. Respect the farmers and their land. Live long and prosper.”

“We go every year and combine it with a trip to the Hartland orchard. Perfect amount of activities: not too big or too small. Has a giant jumping pillow, apple cannon, pig races, slides, ball games, corn maze, reasonably-priced country market, hay rides, sand and corn boxes, and lots more. Hand-dipped caramel apples to die for. Owners and staff are delightful, despite having to deal with children and parents all day.😉”

“Took the grandkids Apple picking and had a blast. Very friendly staff gave us the latest scorecard on which fields were ripe for the picking. Very large farm with lots of apple varieties. Hand orchard polls strategically located to get that just out of reach perfect Apple. Cute pumpkin field too and Apple smoothies. Great time.”

“Best strawberries I've ever had. Made enough jam to last me thru the winter. Great experience picking your own. Grandbaby loved it too ❤️”

“Many different sized trees at one price - $40 this year. Can buy cookies, cider, wreaths too. And vineyards are close by!”

“A nice family-friendly farm. Depending on the season, there are several picking options in different areas. Apple, blueberries, raspberries, cherries, sour cherries, peaches, etc. Call the farm number before going there, and get the info to see what is available. It's kind of a different business there, though under the same name. So, for example, you can only pay by cash or check if you're going for the cherries picking, but they accept credit cards for the berries zone. There are restrooms, but don't expect much. It's not a good area for people with walking disabilities. I suggest that you bring your water. Using bug spray is also a good idea. Price? Expensive for cherries and sour cherries, a quarter-pound bag cost you 10$.”
