“I attended the last meat bird workshop a few weekends ago. Hear me when I say..... THIS WAS THE BEST! I chose to process 5 chickens when I registered because I wanted to make sure I was fully prepared and able to then process chickens myself. The spots are limited so the class size is perfect and they provide everything you need to complete the workshop and come home with ready to cook fully processed chickens. You get to be as hands on as you want, ask any/all the questions you have, and ask for assistance if you aren't quite comfortable fully processing your chickens just yet 😉. I can't say enough good things about this workshop and I HIGHLY recommend it! I will definitely be doing it again until I get my pen set up and everything ready to raise my own meat specific chickens.”

“Hockney Homestead is a local farm that provides the best jams, jellies and curds. They are a fully functional farm with everything from goats, chickens, pigs and more. I can’t say enough good things about the farm, products and family that operate the farm. They have workshops that can teach you about homesteading. I highly encourage you to reach out to them with any questions you may have or just to buy some of their homemade jams or jellies. This homestead is a true asset to Ponchatoula, Louisiana.”

“It's been a year since I picked up my 3 Buff Orpingtons and 1 Roo. They have thrived and even produced chicks. Nicest people and very helpful when I asked a few questions after the purchase. Thanks!”

“Love this farm great customer service prompt amazing.”

“After visiting the homestead in July and getting a feel for breeds we like, we ordered 10 chickens in July via 50% paid deposit with end of September pickup option. Received invoice for remaining 50% mid-September and paid at that time. Received an email with pickup schedule options and chose an available date. Made the one-hour trip there and were informed that they "did not know it was me" coming. Told our order was not ready. They had five of our birds ready but four of those were younger than expected. We were told that they sold two of our birds to another customer. And that the remaining three were still way too young to send with us. Mr. Hockney promised he would find the remaining birds for the order and hand deliver to us at end of October. Upon arriving home, we introduced the five to their new home. One of those was meant to be a specific one that they introduced to our son in July and sold him on. As it turns out, they had sent us home with an entirely different bird. Upon questioning this, we were told that his chicken must have gone home with someone else. He was and still is heartbroken. At this point, four months after ordering, they have provided only four of ten we originally ordered. Three were somehow sold to other customers. We received communication from them over the past few days where they explained that they had an issue with a predator in their barn. A new explanation for why we did not receive our entire order. When asked which is it, they sold our birds to someone else or they were victims of a predator, their response was that's debatable. So none of our remaining birds are available to be delivered. I offered free assistance with their website and tracking procedures. No interest there. Ultimately, I informed them that they represent themselves as a fair and honest small business. To do better. That I want nothing further to do with their business. We opted to just contest the charges with our credit card company and let them sort it out together. After doing so, Hockney called us and challenged that. In doing so, towards the end of the call they informed us the call was recorded and would be used against us. Additionally, they stated their website says no refunds on live birds. And that delivery times are just an estimate. They feel they are entitled to 100% of our money and can provide us with the remaining birds at some point in the future. Spring is what they suggested. I suggested they settle with our credit card company via the dispute filed. No way would we go through this sort of back and forth with them for six more months and likely more based on the experience thus far. Yet they feel entitled to just keep the money for any part of the order not fulfilled. Buyer beware with this homestead.”

“I placed an order on this website for 5 jars of Jam. When the package 📦 came it was poorly packaged. Two of the jars lids were loose and the other one had come opened. Jam was all over the other jars. Had gotten in touch with the owner and explained what had happened. She assured me that she was going to replace my order, now this is going on 2 months now. I have gotten and paid the bill for my order. This will be the last time I order anything from this business and I suggest you not order from them either.”
