A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Michigan.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“Had a wonderful day raspberry picking at this farm yesterday. Wow, they had so many deep-red, large, fresh raspberries! We have tried berry picking in Ann Arbor at other farms and we have only ended up with a small (1/2 a pint) container after an hour of picking. This farm weeds and clears were the berry rows are and this makes it much easier for young kids (and quite frankly me) to reach and find the berries, often hiding under the leaves. Prices are comparable to grocery stores at $4/pint but, obviously these berries are at their peak freshness. The place seems well maintained and the people running the farm are very welcoming and friendly. They even let my kids ring their huge bell hanging from the roof of the barn, which of course the kids were delighted to do! Hoping to return in the spring for some springtime u-picking.”

“This new addition to Tantre farm is the best. I went there for strawberries and will be back soon for raspberries. Prices are reasonable and fields are laid out in a way that makes picking easier. The workers were helpful and I liked that they take both cash and Venmo. Having organic berries within driving distance of my home is something I have been searching for a long time.”

“If you want to pick black raspberries in the Ann arbor area this is the place to go. I don't think I know of another black raspberry you pick. They also have strawberries and red raspberries in season. I can't think of a better organization to support and the qualities of the berries is fantastic and the price reasonable. It's a great family activity.”

“great farm! yummy strawberries and sooo crisp and delicious lettuce! honestly all the selections of produce they had at the time we went it was a good amount and it was such an affordable price! I so would go again 💜 (only side note which isn't a bad one, bring gloves since there is a weed with thorns but its ok)”

“Great place, but I recommend to bring thick and tall socks and thick shoes, this is because the weeds on the ground are quite spiky and will poke any exposed skin. Also, if you plan on getting a large amount of raspberries, get multiple boxes from the stand, this is so they don't crush the ones on the bottom.”

“The strawberries this year were terrible. That may or may not be the fault of the farm, but it does tend to be an issue with organic Farms. The bigger problem is that they don’t weed their strawberry patch. So you’re pushing your way through waste high grass to look for strawberries. We also heard them tell folks that there’s poison ivy in the fields that they apparently couldn’t be bothered to remove. The only positive thing I have to say is that they know how to handle u pick”

“Maybe they will get better, but the raspberries have rough terrain and deep weeds between the rows, heavy mosquitos and the occasional smell of mowed-over animals. Perhaps OK for serious pickers but not fun. We managed to get one pint of berries with 2 pickers.”
