A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Texas.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“Drove down from North Austin for a quick day trip to Fredericksburg and Jenschke Orchards was at the top of our to-do list. Husband and I had a blast, even with the off and on showers throughout the morning (just make sure you don't make the same mistake as me and wear shoes you don't mind getting muddy on the off chance it does rain!) The peach ice cream is delicious and we've already decided we'll bring an ice chest next time to bring some home with us! As of 6/4/26, there are TONS of strawberries for picking. We already knew before going, but they aren't currently offering pick your own peaches, as they had a bad growing season this year. However, they do have select amounts in their store for purchase, which are fairly priced and still taste great. We also brought home some preserved peaches, fresh honey, and peach cider, all which are yummy. We cannot wait to visit this farm again later this year for the pumpkin patch and Christmas trees. I hope this family owned farm continues to thrive for many, many years, as it is truly a gem!”

“We visited Jenschke Orchards with the intention of picking fresh peaches, but it turned out that the season hadn’t quite begun. Peach picking wasn’t available during our visit, and while it’s unclear whether picking is restricted only early in the season or throughout, the peaches being sold were also still a bit underripe—firmer and less juicy than what we remembered from last year’s harvest. Still, the visit wasn’t without highlights. Our kids enjoyed picking strawberries and blackberries, which were available and in good condition. The farm itself is incredibly charming, with a welcoming, laid-back atmosphere that makes for a relaxing family outing. There’s also wine tasting on-site, and a BBQ area for those looking to make a full day of it. While we missed out on the peaches this time, we’re already planning to return during peak peach season. It’s a place with a lot of potential when the timing is right, and a lovely spot to enjoy some countryside charm.”

“We had an awesome time at Jenschke Orchards today! Everyone's so nice and helpful! There is so much to do there and it's great for families! Kids will love it here! The strawberries are delicious and sweet, yes you get to pick them! I want to go back for peaches and other tasty treats! They have a country store with fresh vegetables, canned goods, candles, soaps, dry goods, few clothes! And don't forget the ice cream, pies and peach cider! There's a barbecue(Tasty) place and tons of outdoor seating! Wine tastings, delicious fruit wine! I loved the watermelon and strawberry! The outdoor bounce looks so fun! This an awesome summer place! Come join the fun!”

“Super cute farm with great peaches and really good peach ice cream. We ate peach ice cream at 3-4 places over the weekend and this was by far the best. A little disappointed that we weren’t able to do the pick your own option but strawberry season had just ended and there were no options for peach picking the Saturday that we went out. Picked up some peaches to take home with us though and they are divine!”

“Peach Picking Season! if you on back roads and not the main road be sure to not take the private entrance in the back(if you turn on a dirt road you are not in the right spot). Everyone was very friendly and timely. Cute items and produce around the shop I ended up getting a shirt too :) can’t wait for blackberries and strawberries soon”

“This is a must stop every time we're in Fredericksburg. When we have the kids we'll pick fruit, when we don't we buy the ice cream. THE best ice cream I've had! This last time they had watermelon, lavender, and other flavors along with my all time favorite peach. There's always something for everyone at Jenschke Orchards!”

“A true berry picking experience, complete with tractor ride. We had a blast here! Come early, it gets busy, but it's so much fun! The sweetest berries we've tasted locally! Making our "pick your own" flower bouquet was also fun! Don't skip the peach icecream! Yum!”

“I visited this peach farm during my 8th month of pregnancy because I was craving Fredericksburg peaches. I was there with my husband and my 1.5 year old son and was really looking forward to the experience. My first disappointment was the lack of customer service in the store. I asked for help choosing peaches and explained exactly what I was looking for: sweet, juicy, flavorful peaches. No one was helpful or willing to guide me through the different varieties. I ended up choosing on my own. The peaches were okay, but they were very small. I also bought peach ice cream and peach tea. The ice cream wasn’t great, but the peach tea was amazing. Thankfully I later found out the tea isn’t exclusive to this location and can actually be purchased at HEB. Unfortunately, the worst part of the experience happened as we were leaving. I was carrying my 1.5 year old while very visibly 8 months pregnant. I delivered a 9.5 lb baby two weeks later, so I was quite large. In the parking lot, I stepped into a large rut I couldn’t see, twisted my ankle, and fell while holding my son. I immediately tried to notify someone at the business, but there was no one available to speak with me. I ended up going to the maternity ER after developing contractions and a severe migraine following the fall. I paid for the ER visit myself. What made this experience even worse was the complete lack of follow up or accountability afterward. I repeatedly called trying to file an incident report, but no one returned my calls. I even drove from San Antonio back to the location in person and was again told no one was available to speak with me. After months of trying, I finally reached someone who took my report and said they would speak with the owner and follow up with me. I never received a call back. Businesses carry liability insurance for situations exactly like this, but it honestly felt like they were intentionally avoiding communication so they wouldn’t have to address what happened. Between the poor customer service, unsafe parking lot conditions, and complete lack of concern afterward, this was a very disappointing experience.”
