Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Michigan.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“Very nice place with lots of animals to see and feed. They have a little "train" pulled by tractors for the kids. I believe its 3 dollars per ticket for the train. The donuts are absolutely mouth watering delicious. They have cider and lots of other little treats in the concession area. There is a soybean maze and a sunflower maze. Overall just a very family friendly and fun place. We try to go at least once every fall and we always have a very nice time and make lots of memories and get cute fall pictures of the kids.”

“This place is fun for the whole family, they have a free petting zoo, lots to see, and the areas that cost extra are very reasonable. We happened to come during river of time, a free for the whole family even. Highly recommend the apple cider slushy, and the homemade doughnuts are stellar. Fantastic time at a very reasonable price. Very friendly and helpful staff, we come a couple times every fall.”

“Very fun afternoon with the family. My son enjoyed the antique tractors and the animals. The baby peafowl were adorable, as were the well fed goats. Concession barn had these giant rice Krispy treat cubes that looked awesome! Typical slightly overpriced concessions and pumpkins but not bad compared to other similar places.”

“Love the atmosphere here! So many things to see and do! Donuts and apple cider are delicious. Will definitely go back again! Lots of different size pumpkins to chose from. Lots of great picture spots for family and friends! They even have live animals to see! My favorite part was walking in all the sunflowers.”

“Loved all of it! So much fun. I like that the animals are spread out throughout the farm and not just one long strip of animals. Helps to break it up and see everything. The mazes weren't to bad(as someone who hates mazes). I only wish they had hayrides. We went with our schools field trip.”

“Was a fun and friendly, family environment. Donuts and cider were really good and there were many animals and pony rides too. Lots of stuff to do here and will be going back again. They also had pick your own sunflowers which was really fun!”

“Great time for all. We went for the river of time. Very nice presentation from many. Johnsons has plenty to do for every age. No admission charge but you will spend some money on baked goods, cider, donuts ect. All priced fair.”

“The donuts and staff are amazing. The animals are super friendly and you can feed them for .25 for a handful of food. There is so much to see and do plus a lot of great photo spots!!”
