A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Ohio.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“BEST apple cider! Worth $7 a gal. Bought two and should've bought more! Apples are crisp and fresh picked for you to buy. (Unsure if you could pick your own this year). Family owned. They have a huge variety of apples throughout the growing harvest season. Gets very busy during "pick your own" so be patient. The experience of the family trip is worth it. Wear shoes that might step on some squishy apples. Makes great back drop for pictures. I always eat a few picked right off the tree. Supporting local family businesses help the owners and build priceless memories! My favorite apple orchard!! No fancy place to pull you in a wagon or straw mazes etc. Just simple picking with family/ friends old school way. Your kids will love it!”

“I love visiting this orchard in the fall. They've always got an amazing apple selection...I specifically go just for the McIntosh apples and they're always the best around. You can't find apples like this at the grocery store! I'm unsure of the costs but you can either pickup bushels at their little store or they allow you to pick your own depending on what season they're in. I've done both options and both netted great results! It's a great place and locally owned!”

“Great place, Have come here three years in a row, multiple times on one year too. They are super friendly and will let you know what apples are in season, where to park when busy and if they aren't too busy they have long apple picking poles to get the higher up apples. They ask to check in your trunk before you leave as a security measure because some people do steal. Not a problem though as I'll always come back here .”

“Simple, fun picking experience. They even give you poles when the low hanging fruit has been picked over. Reasonable prices at $14 per half bushel for you-pick. Good quality apples and variety. Call ahead to see what they are picking. Be aware they are cash or check only.”

“Good value and relatively friendly staff! Orchard entrance could certainly be bigger (one car wide only for outgoing and incoming traffic), and I so wish that the apple trees were labelled in some way for their variety. However, we had a great time picking apples outselves with a provided picking pole and spent a good half hour filling up a bag. Credit cards of all kinds are accepted, though it's a $10 minimum. They also sell cold apple cider in both a half gallon and gallon sizes. We plan to be back.”

“Friendly staff! Only took a few moments to pay for our purchases. Beware the driveway is very small. Only fits one car at a time at the entrance. Looks like it is run out of the family's garage.”

“Only way to reach the apples is with a stick/pole and they don’t have enough for all the visitors. (Totally understandable) But... wait a minute! some families had 2, 3 or 4 sticks with them and when we asked if they will share one with us they said NO!!! 5 different families being totally rude and teaching their kids excellent manners. The orchard should try to encourage other visitors to be more polite and friendly mostly because of the kids.”

“Every year since 2004, my wife and I (and later on with our children) would visit Kuners on our wedding anniversary every Sept 20th. After three years in a row now of being told we couldn't visit the orchard or pick our own apples (which was our tradition) we've decided not to go back anymore. Every year we would go there, spend money, tell them how long we had been coming, tell them how great it was and how much we enjoyed our tradition. In turn, they acted indifferent and bothered. Truthfully, they act like they don't want to be there. The apples and cider are very expensive. They're not anything special or different, just plain old apples and apple cider. You can just go to Walmart and get the same apples and cider for a quarter of the price and without the attitude. The only thing that makes an orchard like this worth patronizing is their charm, customer service and the novelty of walking through the orchard-none of which Kuners will provide you. So, for the first time in 16 years we won't be going to Kuners on our anniversary. We wont bother them anymore with our tradition or our story. If you are wanting to take a fun family outing for apples and cider, I would suggest you look elsewhere. I know we are.”
