A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Ohio.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

What visitors say

“What a wonderful multi-generational small business hidden back off the road! The sign is warn and a testament to how long they have been in business. Knowledgeable and wonderful people own and run this business. No fuss location with apples, pears, honey, cider, pumpkins, squash and other goodies. Don't let it's comfortably time worn appearance hide what goodies wait inside. Many wonderful types of apples to purchase, from honeycrisp to cortlands. Buy by the bag or 1/2 bushel, etc. Smaller parking area so pull back with caution and please be courageous when you park so as many cars as possible can park as well. Bring cash. Definitely worth stopping in!”

“Courteous, helpful, and genuinely kind service make this location a star in my shop local world. I have been very happy with all the fruit, vegetables, and other items I have purchased from here in my 3 years of shopping at McDowell's. I am grateful I live nearby so I can come here often.”

“Don't miss this gem of a fruit farm/farm market. May not have the "flash" or size of nearby competitors but such a great variety of fruits, veggies, jams, syrup, popcorn, etc. spring 'til autumn. Owners are friendly and very helpful, especially if you have questions.”
