What you can pick
In October, check what’s currently ripe before you go. Seasons below are typical windows for Texas, not a guarantee for this exact farm.
Before you go
A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Texas.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“Love Neal's berry farm! We have been coming for many years now. This year we came out when the bee situation was happening and they where very concerned and helpful when I got stung. They where very proactive in getting it sorted and we came back the following week and picked 10lb of the juiciest, largest and most fresh blackberries you can get. These do not compare to anything in the stores. The owner is very friendly and all the staff are super helpful and nice. It's so nice to find a pick your own that's not over commercialized and still feels authentic. We ate them fresh, made the best jam and blackberry bread.”

“We had such a wonderful time at Neal’s Berry Farm! We came out over the weekend to pick blackberries and the place is so well kept and clean. Everyone was super kind and it’s just so peaceful and quiet out there. The blackberries are so delicious, juicy, and plump. The flowers you can pick looked so beautiful too. We also grabbed some tomatoes, beets, and pickling cucumbers and they are divine. Highly recommend making the trip. We will definitely be back!”

“Not worth it. At least cut your grass where people walk and pick. So many mosquitos and ant hills, my 3 year old got bit all over. $5 per person, even little kids. $7 per lb fruit. We will not be returning. So many other better options.”
