Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Tennessee.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“The Tulip Festival is definitely a must see, if you live within a "day trip" distance then I highly recommend it. To see and experience hundreds of thousands of tulips in all kinds of shapes and colors was truly mesmerizing. They have all kinds of photo ops, and lots of things to do other than the tulips. We ate there and the food and prices were good. They have slides and extensive play areas for all ages. We spent 5 hours there and it didn't feel that long. The place is so beautiful and expansive that it doesn't feel crowded even if there's a lot of people. We will be back for their Fall Festival.”

“We’ve been here for the fall festival and enjoyed. We attended the tulip festival which was pleasant to just walk around tulips. Relaxing afternoon. $20 for 12 or $2/stem pre-picked tulips, or $18 for 10 pick your own + mason jar. Funnel cake and lemonade were fresh and delicious. Lots of activities for kids to do included in the $20 ticket.”

“Had a WONDERFUL time visiting Oakes farms for the 2026 Tulip Festival. The tulips were absolutely stunning and they had rows upon rows in many exotic patterns and brilliant colors. I loved it so much I went two weekends in a row with friends and family. Would highly recommend visiting during the spring for this event!”

“We had a fantastic time at the farm! Both of our dogs had a blast, they even gave our birthday girl a sticker. There were dog bowls of water placed around, the food was delicious and the staff was incredible. We will definitely make this a yearly trip.”

“Each year we travel from Florida to enjoy all things fall this was our fifth year visiting Oakes farm. Our 8 year old looks forward to this trip every year. The farm is spacious with so many activities we rarely get to experience everything.”

“The tulips are beautiful and you can create your own bouquet! Lots of things to do for small children and families. I wish the petting zoo had been open, that would've made the day! :)”

“Excellent outing to enjoy the farm in spring bloom. Tulip festival was great to see and have lots photos spots to take pictures.”

“Nice place to see tulips, & artists painting the scenery, the gift shop, etc. We thought is was very expensive. We were going to get lunch there but didn't b/c nothing looked appetizing to us & it was exoensive. The candies, etc. were made on-site but we don't need the calories for the cost. We thought we could buy the bulbs, or extra bulbs that weren't planted, but were told "no" for certain reasons. It seems to be a very popular place with a long history but we'd try another farm next time.”
