A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in New York.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“Had the best time going fruit picking this past week! We got there bright and early—parking and directions was super easy and clear. Same goes for as you walk through the orchard! The staff was nice and helpful, even letting us know that there may still be some strawberries lingering around in their patch despite their peak season being over! While walking towards the blueberries and raspberries, we checked and well, found tons of strawberries! Yay! It was a very nice experience being able to pick a variety of fruit and veggies. Strawberries, raspberries, cherries, blueberries, snap peas, and garlic was available. Peaches will be, soon! As a local, I can’t believe I didn’t come here sooner, but I’ll definitely be back. All the produce looked gorgeous and so healthy! Afterwards, safe to say it all tasted DELICIOUS and was so reasonably priced! All that fruit for $17 with a $5 dollar entry fee? Yes please! We also checked out their store and got some ice cream there. A little kitty, I think by the name Junior (this was a few days ago, apologies if wrong) walks around the store. He was very cute, friendly, and kept to himself. I got myself some cookies while I was there and they were great, too. It reminds me a lot of Pennings store, a little smaller, but less chaotic (because pennings is a bit more busy due to it being on the main road and popularity of the restaurant/plant selection)—but I did also come at 9/10am haha. I didn’t get the ice cream, but was told it was great! They have tons of flavors and 2 vegan flavors that looked great—-vanilla and strawberry. The woman at the counter was very nice too. She answers the phones and spoke kindly from what I heard. The other woman, Bryn, at the register was very kind as I checked out my cookies. Also, what they post on Facebook (that’s how you find out if the orchard is open and what is able to be picked and how much) is 100% accurate! Overall, a beautiful orchard, drive, and fun time! I’ll be back super soon!”

“This was my first and BEST fruit picking I have ever had. I went with my mother on a Friday evening around 2pm. It was not crowded at all and had a bunch of fruits available. They give you a map to find the different types of fruits they offer. Entrance fee was $5 per person and gives you cute coins as your “ticket” and bring it back ready to checkout for a discount. You pay for the pound and each one varies, but it was around $2-10 per pound and very affordable. The Cashier was really friendly and he helpful! Overall, I’ll definitely be back to pick up some more delicious fruits! :)”

“My favorite orchard. I've been coming here at least once a year for the past 5 years, and it's always such a blast. 3 selling points: 1.) They grow my favorite apple here (evercrisp). 2.) The shop has an amazing variety of niche food products and produce. 3.) There's more than just apples to pick (they have pears, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, cabbages, broccoli, sweet potatoes, peppers, and more). I cannot recommend this place enough”

“Beautiful orchard within driving distance of NYC. Ochs is affordable, not too crowded in early September, and has a wide variety of fruits and vegetables you can pick when in season. The orchard is set on a hill with stunning views of the surrounding rolling hills and valleys. The gift shop sells freshly made cinnamon apple cider donuts that are to die for. Worth the trip out there!”

“This is our second visit, and we'll be back. They offer free parking, good service, and unlimited picking. The prices are very reasonable compared to other farms. It's a family-friendly place with beautiful views! Their homemade ice cream and homemade apple cider donuts are delicious!!”

“Beautiful farm with great produce. We came pretty late so we just picked those sweet juicy peaches and blueberries. Coming back next week and then probably at least once a month as it is fun for us and little ones. Ice cream is delicious too.”
