What you can pick
In October, check what’s currently ripe before you go. Seasons below are typical windows for Connecticut, not a guarantee for this exact farm.
Before you go
A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Connecticut.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“An impromptu visit to Old Bishop Farm turned into one of the highlights of our weekend. We were so happy to find a farm still open late on a Sunday afternoon, and what a pleasant surprise it was. The market and store are charming, beautifully stocked, and full of fresh and unique local products. The food was outstanding — especially the asparagus galette, which was absolutely delicious and worth the trip on its own. Ended up ordering 2 more. What really made the experience memorable, though, was the warmth of the people there. Every worker we interacted with was welcoming and kind, and I believe the owner even came by and was incredibly generous and gracious. We only wish we lived closer. We’ll definitely make a point to visit again the next time we’re in town.”

“Old Bishops Farm isn't a new business however they reopened this weekend and it was my first time there! Love how there's room to walk , it's clean, there's fresh veggies, and pretty mums and pumpkins of all sorts to pick ! Even fruit picking .. in this case apples! Staff was great! My dad ordered a pumpkin donut and I just had a small home made ice cream. It it was delicious! There are 2 different areas to purchase bakery items and Ice cream which is nice . Keeps lines separate and not too long. There's tables outdoors where you can enjoy ! We enjoyed the ride getting there. It's kind of in between residential area in Cheshire but easy to get to.”

“My 2 yr old daughter and I love Old Bishop Farms. We come a couple times a month at her insistence. Every baked item and ice cream we’ve tried has been wonderful, and the fruit we’ve gotten has always been great. My favorite thing here is the pick your own flowers. My daughter picked out her own bouquet here in August, and I had a friend press the flowers for a lasting wall art. Old Bishop Farms is great and the staff have always been so friendly. Definitely a great place to visit.”

“This place was amazing. They held a free event and we took our 5 year old and she had a blast. They had a bounce house, homemade playdough, a water sensory area and another craft area. We also bought ice cream which was absolutely delicious (chocolate, cookie butter and the donut sundae were all very good). We also purchased donuts to bring to a friend's after, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed them. We hope to be back asap!”

“My husband and I love the ice cream at Old Bishop Farm. We took advantage of the warm day and spent our afternoon on the porc. My husband got a huge cone with Maple ice cream which he really enjoyed and I got a cup with one scoop of Cherry Chocolate chunk and one scoop of Samoa ice cream. The Cherry was great but the Samoa was to die for!!! It reminded me of a Samoa girl scout cookie. It was so good!”

“Best experience ever! A bit small but it is a hidden gem! Also have a section on picking your own flowers! The ultimate super premium ice cream shop! It will change your life. They use the fruit at the farm for the ingredients as well as working by hand local cream!”

“We did a family trip here for the Fall of 2019 & it was the perfect Fall day. We picked apples, had apple cider, bought wine, enjoy the animals on the farm & to top off the day, we pick fresh raspberries. There were activities for everyone to enjoy.”
