What you can pick
In August, check what’s currently ripe before you go. Seasons below are typical windows for Utah, not a guarantee for this exact farm.
Before you go
A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Utah.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“We recently visited the Downtown St George Farmers Market. Conveniently located at the Vernon Worthen Park in St George. Our first stop was the Fred Openshaw Farms booth. We bought 2 boxes of " old Henry " peaches. We bought tomatoes, cucumbers, and "Honeycrisp" apples. The produce did not disappoint!! Beautiful, Delicious, very high quality, fruits and vegetables. I highly recommend this grower to everyone!! They were especially nice people too. Friendly, helpful, and genuinely warm. You can't go wrong with Fred Openshaw Farms! Their produce is A+ !!”

“My family looks forward to buying our fruit from Fred Openshaw Farms each week they’re at the Bountiful Farmers Market. We love everything, especially their apples. The strawberries we got this week tasted incredible and were priced so well. Thanks for always coming to the market and bringing us quality produce!”

“Their apples are crisp and delicious. Nothing beats their apple slushies, they are the best we've had. Friendly and great customer service, would recommend to anyone searching for apple products that are very affordable.”

“I'm glad everyone else has had good experiences, but for the very first time, ours was not.We picked up squash, zucchini apricots and donut peaches.Saturday at the saint george farmer's market. When we got home saturday evening, we had more than half the bag of apricots moldy. I reached out sunday, asking for a refund.Which was not an easy process by monday they finally refunded me. Come sunday night about six of my donut peaches were moldy. Now I wash all my fruits and vegetables with an ozone machine and normally, they will last double the length of just washing them with regular water. I feel like my fruits of vegetables should last more than two days after purchasing them. This will be the last time I ever purchased from them.I will continue to go to cherry hills farms. EDIT! They have refunded me for everything.”
