Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Colorado.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
  • Payment notes on file: Mastercard. Cash still helps at smaller stands.

What visitors say

103 reviews on file · showing 8 visitor notes from the listing data.

“Farm, market, and winery all in one and in a pretty creek. This was our first stop in Paonia and set the bat high right off the bat. We did Black Bridge Winery wine tasting! And a bonus you get to keep the tasting glass with our purchase of a bottle. So I'll tell you we visited other wineries that day however it was easily the first bottle that we wanted to open to enjoy! Friendly staff, great variety of wine selections. Onsite they have pick your own raspberries and other fruits depending on the time of year. They have a good selection of jams, vinegars, olive oils and of course wines. Their wines are made from their own grapes, not brought in from elsewhere. They raise cattle and sell their own beef! A must visit in Paonia.”

“Orchard Valley Farms’ Black Bridge Winery is ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL! The wine tastings were delicious & served by very friendly staff. Bottles of Bridge Winery wines are very affordable & the very modest wine tasting fee included a pretty Black Bridges’ wine glass to take home! We also had so much fun picking apples & berries in the vineyards & orchards and the little farm store is so cute! Orchard Valley Farms’ hard working owners Lee, Kathy & Ryan Bradley were very sweet & kind. We’ll DEFINITELY return to Orchard Valley Farms & Black Bridge Winery as soon as we can!”

“If you are passing by and only can stop at one winery… this is it. The market, fresh veggies, local groceries and the best wine I had was just perfection. Even Cachito had a wonderful time by running from one side of the river to the next. The staff members was so friendly and offer great details of the history of the town and must try location. Definitely my #1 winery and market to visit. We are definitely going back and may have been convinced to love here.”

“We got 12lbs worth of fruit and it was reasonably priced. $2/lb for the fruit and $6/lb for the berries I believe. We were able to snag some apples, nectarines, peaches, blackberries and raspberries right off the stem! The wine tasting at the Black Bridge Winery was great too, I would recommend the Riesling. Thanks for the wonderful visit!”

“It has a lot of fruits to pick, but some are too high to reach. Feel bad about those ripped and fallen ones. Wish to know how they treat these ripped fruits.”

“A definite stop if you are passing thru this area! Excellent jams/jellies, fresh baked bread and hospitality! The perfect pit stop during our trip 😃”

“Wonderful cherry picking in early July. Beautiful setting and a wonderful products. We very much enjoy the balsamic vinegar and olive oils.”

“Very friendly. I purchased wine, fresh cherries and jam. Beautiful setting along the river with a fun bridge.”
