What you can pick

In October, check what’s currently ripe before you go. Seasons below are typical windows for Massachusetts, not a guarantee for this exact farm.

Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Massachusetts.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“underrated and so beautiful! if you get there during the designated hours (5-7), during august you can visit their garden and see such beautiful flowers. i would say the only thing they could do better would be to have more availability! i’m not going to lie because i was really scared of all the bees and insects at first honestly, with all the honey and bumble bees there; i quickly realized they don’t really care about me because of how many flowers there are. so many pollinators out there, butterflies and moths, we also saw a tiny frog! many of the flowers are dahlias, well kept and well taken care of, of so many varieties and sizes too! the man who was out there you can tell he is passionate. he loved talking about the flowers and all the berries. he is quite helpful and delightful and will instruct you on how to cut the flowers the best way, and he is over all very informative. i’m leaving this review because of how moving of an experience this was, cultivation, patience, and growth being seen all in one place is really beautiful, you can tell how much work, time, and adoration for the earth goes into it. my boyfriend and i went on a date to go, if you have a partner and it’s a really beautiful time too. please go give this guy a chance, you may find something you never knew was there.”

“Pie in the Sky Berry Farm is a delightful destination for berry lovers. They offer juicy strawberries at the start of the season and continue with four varieties of plump, tasty blueberries. The picking experience is both fun and rewarding. Highly recommended for a sweet day out!”

“100% worth seeking out... beautiful organic farm. And there are soooo many blueberries right now!!! They grow several varieties and they’re all delicious! My 3yo loved picking them with us, though I think most of them ended up in his mouth instead of the carton.”

“What a lovely farm with the most delicious blueberries we’ve maybe ever had! The upick environment was peaceful…a perfect form of therapy… so many berries ripe and ready to enjoy! SO WORTH the trip up!!”

“Open for a limited season so make plans to get out for strawberries and possibly blueberries! Say hello to Farmer Fred and Kristen and take advantage of flexible payment options out of the farm.”

“A nice treat! Pick your own strawberries and blueberries in season. Friendly people; feels like you’re in the country when you’re minutes away from the center of Northampton.”

“Wonderful place! The farm is easy to get to and staff was fantastic. This was our first time picking strawberries and it was a great experience. Will definitely be back.”
