A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Kansas.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“Such an adorable orchard (definitely not a loss)! The atmosphere is quiet and laid back. I was amazed at the never ending rows of apples trees - this place is huge! They do charge to go pick the apples, but it’s only $5 and that gets you access to the whole farm which includes: you-pick apples (it’s actually fun doing all the work), corn maze, pumpkin patch, kids play area, wagon rides, and more! If you are not up for that, there are pre-picked apples in the market for sale and you don’t have to pay the entrance fee to enter. I also didn’t do any of the kid’s play things or ride the wagon and I found the $5 fee absolutely worth it! I would pay that just to walk the premises and take it all in! The whole place is beautiful. Plus, for however many people are in your group, you get that many pounds of apples free (my husband and I got 2 free pounds). There’s just nothing like a fresh picked apple straight from the tree! Even the most expensive apples at the grocery store do not compare to the flavor and the experience at Pome on The Range! I highly recommend a visit and I have told all my friends and family to check this place out! ;)”

“This was such a great place. Small enough and affordable to start a tradition with our 11 month old grandson. We had 7 people in our party ranging from 77 years to almost 1 year old - everyone had a great time picking apples and pumpkins! We left with 7lbs of apples, 2 pies, apples cider doughnuts, peach wine, pop in bottles, and pumpkins of very diverse sizes and colors! The staff were amazing and very accommodating. I know we would not have had the same experience with the larger, crowded, expensive alternatives.”

“We have never been to this gem!! We picked pumpkins. Then we went through the corn maze! We got a ride to the corn pit & our kids played for quite some time! My husband & i sat by the fire on the logs & just enjoyed being outside! Beautiful weather, beautiful place! You could pick apples on the orchard if you wanted! We will definitely be back it wasn't too crowded & admission was discounted from the normal $5 to $3 today!”

“I can't speak about the orchards, since our visit was in the spring to experience the winery. Our first (and major) red flag was the one employee who seemed to be more than just a little drunk or stoned (I wish I was kidding). The girls in our group decided to go ahead with a tasting, and had to suppress giggles watching the employee try to pour the samples and explain the wines. This place had, as other reviewers mention, a beautiful and spacious orchard, but the winery/gift shop is in disrepair, the packaged foods for sale seem to have been there a while, and the wines, I am told, were awful.”

“It WAS an amazing orchard experience that supported the local community and vendors. Unfortunately it changed owners and lost sight of what's important in small communities and then they fired the staff we saw every time we went in for years. They tried to commercialize it and they've since ruined the experience.”
