A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Illinois.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“This was our 2nd year visiting Prairie Hill Blueberry Farm and we are happy we did! It is a simple little farm but worth the drive and fun to go and pick blueberries with the family. Owners are extremely nice. Pricing is fair and they had a few other things offered as well if interested. We tried their honey sticks and they were yummy. Make sure to follow them on Facebook, as with any You Pick farm, hours and days can vary depending on the weather!”

“Very friendly Owner's. A nice log cabin house greets you on the left of the driveway. Around back are small and large buckets for you to use in the U-Pick blueberry field. Yum, I ate a handful off the bushes. Good stuff!! You should call first to see if they are open. I think growing season is relatively short around late June/early July.”

“Had to get more blueberries today, wish I could've picked MORE, but the heat won. They are very good, you all need to go get some. The season for blueberries ends the end of July. The new owners are GREAT people.”

“This is a lovely blueberry patch! It was very quiet and peaceful. My kids enjoyed picking berries, chasing chickens, and eating a snow cone here. It's a great place to visit!”

“Have come here the last 2 years. We always stock up on enough blueberries to last us until the next year. Always delicious and a fun family outing.”

“Such a beautiful scenic farm and a great owner as well. The berries were amazing and I will return again and again!!!”

“Amazing place, owner and blueberries. I will return again and again. Bring your children and taste the love”
