Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Vermont.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“Such a cozy bed and breakfast! The owners Debbie and Rich are wonderful and such kind people. They made us feel right at home and cooked us delicious breakfasts during our weekend stay. They have coffee and tea available at all times. My partner and I stayed in the Martha room which is on the first floor. It has a queen and a twin bed and a private bathroom. The queen bed was VERY comfortable and the room was nice and warm. The bathroom is a full bath and it was very clean. The building itself is within sight of Maple Soul which has amazing Southern and New England fusion food. If you're a skier it's only 20 minutes from Killington. Lots of great waterfalls and hiking trails ranging from easy to difficult in the area. Will definitely be returning, I won't even consider staying anywhere else.”

“We really enjoyed our stay at the Pumpkin Patch B&B. I have stayed in both the Edyth room and the Mountainview rooms. Both rooms are comfortable an spacious. The included breakfast is always delicious. Rich and Debbie went out of their way to make sure that we were comfortable and had everything that we needed. The location is fantastic, within walking distance to multiple restaurants. They don't offer online booking, but reserving a room is very easy with a quick phone call. We will definitely stay at the Pumpkin Patch again!”

“Rich was outside in the yard and gave us a friendly wave as soon as we turned into their driveway. Rich and Debbie's home is lovely -- one enters a large screened-in sitting area before entering the main home. They have a huge wooden stove in their modern kitchen, whose counters will soon be clad with green serpentine marble from the marble quarry just down the road -- now that's keeping things local!! The lovely dining room has a working, historic fireplace and Danish blue china plates displayed on the wall. The first floor also has a comfortable TV room and front room. ||||The "Martha" room, where we stayed, was on the main floor. Both of the room's beds had brass headboards and foot boards, and each was clad in quilted coverlets and plenty of pillows. The beds were very comfortable. Extra blankets are provided on a polished wooden rack for wintertime guests, but because we were there on a hot August night, we appreciated the window-mounted electric fan. The "Martha" room has an adjoining private bath which was large and offered both a shower and a tub. The towels were thick, absorbent, and GREAT (when compared to some hotel towels that feel like a skinny dishcloth!)|| ||Everything is CLEAN. Everywhere one sees little items from Debbie's extensive collection of pumpkin-themed items. Debbie's home-cooked breakfast was outstanding and beautifully presented on china plating. A generous fruit cup, then bacon, sausage, and cinnamon raisin French toast which was, of course, accompanied with real Vermont maple syrup! Coffee and a variety of teas are available, but because our family prefers juices, Rich and Debbie provided both orange juice and cranberry juice. They accommodated our preferences, which we thought was very kind.||||We felt like Rich and Debbie offered more than just their home to us -- we were treated like family! We are looking forward to another stay at The Pumpkin Patch in the future and would recommend this B&B to anyone.”

“Debbie and Rich made my husband and I feel so welcome the minute we stepped into their beautiful home! This was our first overnight since the pandemic started, and we were so excited to be at this beautiful bed and breakfast! Our room had a comfy bed, and we had our own sitting room and private bathroom! It was perfect for us. Breakfast this morning was amazing! We had a choice of different egg dishes or pancakes, and we chose omelettes. Fresh fruit was served first in addition to homemade chocolate chip coffee cake! The servings were so bountiful, even my husband could not finish everything! We were all set for a day of bicycling after such a huge breakfast!||Debbie and Rich are so interesting to talk to. They have worked incredibly hard to collect all kinds of pumpkin related artifacts as well as beautiful folk art displayed throughout the Inn.||I appreciated their flexibility, as they allowed us to postpone our initial overnight in July due to rain. We did not want to bicycle in the rain, and Debbie and Rich cheerfully rescheduled our overnight. Staying with such warm, riendly and accommodating people is a joy. Thank you Debbie and Rich for a very special overnight!”

“We just came back from a wonderful stay at the Pumpkin Patch B&B. The hosts are so warm and welcoming - we really felt like guests in their home. We stayed in the Edythe Room, which was really a suite. The mattress was soft with such cozy bedding we didn't want to get up in the morning. We also loved the private sitting room - it gave us a separate space to sit and hang out in. Morning breakfast was delicious. So much better than any hotel breakfast!!! We also really enjoyed the town - several restaurants within walking distance. We hope to return!”

“The Pumpkin Patch B&B is a true five-star establishment! We were running out of gas on a drive up to Sugarbush (apparently all gas stations in Vermont close at 9 PM) and called Debbie & Rich late night in a panic. They welcomed us and our son with open arms. The accommodations were so comfortable and the breakfast was delicious - they had eggs, warm coffeecake and fresh fruit - a full spread even for last minute guests. Debbie & Rich were truly hospitable hosts! I'd recommend this inn without hesitation.”

The home is lovely and filled with beautiful interiors. Absolutely the best bed and breakfast experience I've ever had. The quintessential Vermont experience of hospitality. Debbie and Rich are so wonderful. The breakfast was spectacular! Adorable maple leaf waffles, fruit, bacon and pastries.”

“We had a wonderful stay in this charming home on Main Street in Rochester, Vermont, a quaint little town. The home was filled with a warm glow, and the Martha Room was beautifully decorated with antique furniture and a comfortable double bed. Hosts Rich and Debbie were delightful. Breakfast included homemade waffles, a delicious homemade cake and fresh fruit. Can highly recommend this B&B.”
