Before you go
A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Texas.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“Best pecans ever! I’ve never been in person but every Christmas I order their chocolate covered pecans through their website. They always ship quickly and are the best chocolate covered pecans around! My grandfather started this tradition in our family and since he passed away I continue to carry it on.”
“We first came to Russell's Pecan Orchard in the middle 80's to have our pecans cracked, then years later to have them cracked and shelled. We now buy all our pecans and pecan products here, especially for Christmas gifts for out-of-state family and friends. We have always gotten superior products!”
“If you're looking for pecans, this is the place to go. Whole, cracked, or spiced up, you will have a great selection to choose from this little store in Gholson, TX.”
“Received my bags of fresh season 2021 pecan halves. They are so delicious-buttery and almost sweet. Tasty right out of the bag. Will have to get some more soon.”
“LOVE THIS PLACE!! Delicious meaty, fresh pecan! Don’t waste your money at the grocery store on shelved pecans. The customer service is TOP RATED! ENJOY! ☺️”
“I was looking for shelled pecans for the upcoming holidays. I was able to get what I needed for a reasonable price and did not have to drive too far!!”
“Russell's pecans is great. The family has been in business here for at least 70 years. The service, the candies, and pecans are so good.”
“Very disappointed, since they said on the website they are open and they were not. Drove miles to get here, and no one care to mention or change the status, to close.”
