A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in California.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“We were visiting Redding in August and were looking for local produce. Serendipity had plums, peaches and figs to pick and they are delicious. We learned that they are open from June to December with cherries, nectarines, peaches, plums, figs, apples, persimmons, pomegranate and kiwis depending on the season. We will definitely visit again! Call ahead to find out the seasonal hours and available fruit.”
