Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Connecticut.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
  • Payment notes on file: Mastercard. Cash still helps at smaller stands.

“I visited Silverman Farm back in October for my 2 year old birthday. The whole family enjoyed themselves, especially the kids. Everything at the location was affordable. The entry fee was $7. They have a petting zoo, and to enter that was also $7. You could also get a bag of feeding for the animal for $5. They have a wide variety of animals from bunnies to Alpacas. The animals are well taken care of, and they were clean. They have a maze in the petting zoo that the kids can follow and play in. They also have stationary tractors that they can play on and take pictures. They also have small kid slides, which my kids love. They have food vendors at the location, which also had reasonable pricing. We got the cheese dog and the pizza. The family that sold the pizza did a great job. The pizza was so fresh and delicious.I highly recommend you try them. They have the store where you can get jarred products, apple pies, apple cider, baked goods, and so much more. I think my favorite part of the whole experience was riding the tractor through the apple orchard. The scenery was so breathtaking and beautiful! I wish the ride was longer. They do have apple picking and other fruits picking, but the day we went, there wasn't any apple picking for that weekend. They have portable bathrooms. Unfortunately, those weren't properly maintained. They were really dirty and I didn't want to use them, but I had no choice.”

“Highly recommend! This is one of the best farms we've been to yet. We've been searching for one that had animals we could pet and feed and this place delivered. We visited today (Saturday) and the parking lot was pretty packed, but we were able to find a spot. The entrance fee to the animal farm is $7 for adults, $6 for children (ages 3-11) and $5 for a bag of feed. It was worth every penny. My daughter had a blast feeding the animals and seeing different ones roam the farm. It's a beautiful place with plenty of seating and things for kids to do. The adults had a fun time as well. We will definitely be back!”

“I was looking to find the most 'New England' experience possible around me to share with someone new to the area, and this was perfect! The cider (and "chai-der") and donuts are only rivaled in deliciousness by the apples we picked. An awesome time I've enjoyed since I was a kid, and now can share with others. 🍎 🐄 🎃”

“Loved our visit today to Silverman's today! Vibrant farm and awesome market. Great for families. Lots of animals... pumpkins, apples, fresh veggies, delicious pies, candy apples, cider, icecream, plants, awesome food trucks... just AWESOME array of options! We had a wonderful family day today at Silverman's.”

“Great plants and trees, tulip flowers are in big batches and sold by fresh cut. They have the pet animal zoom also, which is a great activity to bring the family and kids”

“Lovely place to take the family for the farm; pick your own fruit or the shop is filled with plenty of fresh goods and plants! Highly recommend”

“We loved the animal farm and small outdoor play area. Picking raspberries was an added bonus.”

“I haven’t been here in a long time. And I wasn’t impressed with the petting zoo, it needs a major refresh. Everything looked run down, the water duck race wasn’t working, I didn’t want to touch a picnic table as I felt that I would get a splinter. The poor cow was getting eaten alive by flies. They make a spray so that the cow can get some relief. Some of the animals needed a bigger enclosure. The other side of the street with the market looked quite refreshed. I was very surprised that the market didn’t have AC. We bought a few items and a bag for peaches. When we walked to go pick the peaches we had no idea where to go. There weren’t any signs so we just walked up and eventually found the trees that had peaches. The butterfly garden needed to be weeded and was lacking plants that attracted butterflies. There is so much that could be done with that area to make it beautiful.”
