A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Pennsylvania.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“Going into the Peach Orchard and seeing the exact same view the Union III Corps had on July 2nd is absolutely amazing. Looking south towards Warfield Ridge and West the attacking Confederates came on. Understanding what it was like to be a Union Soldier on the afternoon of July 2nd. Take in the views, you can see the Round Tops, the Trostle Farm, Seminary Ridge, the Rose Farm. A place so full of death and confusion is now peaceful ground to walk upon and observe everything. It's nothing to just spend 30 mins here taking everything in. Remember you have to get out of the car and walk the Battlefield to really experience it”

“The Peach Orchard witnessed severe fighting on July 2nd 1863 when McClaws Confederate Division of Longstreets 1st Corps attacked the salient manned by Sickles 3rd Corps of the Union Army of the Potomac. The Peach Orchard formed the tip of Sickles salient and was attacked from both the south and the west. The result of the encirclement resulted in the 3rd Corps being pushed back with severe losses to Cemetery Ridge.”
