Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Oregon.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

What visitors say

“Topaz Farm has become one of our favorite reasons to make the trip out to Sauvie Island, especially for their Farm to Plate dinners and live music evenings. There's something really special about sitting down to a meal under their 500-year-old oak tree, knowing the produce was harvested just hours before you ate it. Chefs Christian and Janelle Ephrem build the menu around whatever's actually ready in the fields that week, and it shows: the food is fresh, seasonal, and clearly made with a lot of care. The long communal tables and family-style service make the whole evening feel relaxed and genuinely joyful rather than fussy. The live music series is just as great. Hearing local and touring artists play outdoors on the farm, with the fields and that huge old oak as the backdrop, is a totally different concert experience than anything you'll get in the city. It's laid-back, beautiful, and makes for a really memorable summer evening. Beyond the dinners and shows, it's clear that there's an incredible amount of love that goes into Topaz: it's a genuinely regenerative, no-spray family farm, with happy animals and welcoming people. Whether you're going for a dinner, a show, or just an afternoon wandering the grounds, Topaz Farm delivers something you won't find anywhere else near Portland. Highly recommend.”

“Absolutely magical experience! Staff were great, setting was idyllic, music was lovely, kids were free range, one donkey was quite a flirt, food was really good, and the vibe was just LOVELY. You can feel that the owners really care. Their prices are reasonable, they pay their staff a living wage, and it’s a treat to eat meat and produce where it was actually grown. Due to it being their first big event of the year they had a snafu with their printer - so some had to wait a long time for their food. The owners got on stage and apologized for this and encouraged anyone to email them so that they could remedy it. They were deeply apologetic and SO kind about it. It’s a good reminder for us all to orient to the magic that can exist at a place like Topaz even if everything isn’t exactly perfect all the time!”

“We had so much fun at this farm seeing the animals and marveling at the beautiful plants. It’s a relaxed family atmosphere with fun for everyone. There’s a fabulous country store where you can pick up souvenirs or gifts or even some thing for yourself. It’s a beautiful place to spend fall afternoon!”

“I have been here twice and have not disappointed! The first was for an outdoor concert, and tonight I experienced their farm to table dinner. Exceptional experiences for both in such a beautiful setting. Will be back and cannot recommend enough!”

“Came for a concert. Amazing venue, but took hours (seriously) waiting in lines to get a burger and a beer. Really conflicted about this place because it was so beautiful but so crazy trying to just get a burger and a beer. The traffic jam trying to leave through the one lane entry/exit was something to behold. Maybe someday they will get it sorted out. Unfortunately the crazy lines kinda ruined it for me, not sure I’ll be back again.”
