Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Florida.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“We love the organic juicing oranges from U-Pick. This was our second year going, and we'll keep going until they close/sell (which they have indicated they may do in the future of they find the right buyers). We drove just over an hour from Sanibel. The oranges are slightly more sour than store oranges, but 13$ for a 5 gallon bucket of Valencias certainly seemed like a good deal to our family. The fruit is also understandably not as orange, because they thankfully haven't been gassed like the industrial citrus groves. We enjoyed the stories and helpful organic advice from the owners. Will be back.”

“We visited on vacation and were shocked to hear this was one of only two PYO orange places in Florida. We loaded up a large bucket and bought another bag at a thrift store to check on the plane so we had room to fly them home. (hooray for Southwest and free checked bags!) We had a great time and felt lucky to have been staying 30 min away. Go at least an hour before they close so you have time to pick and leave the Ferrari in the garage- the dirt/sand road to get there is very soft and deep in places.”

“The oranges were the greatest value I've ever had. They give you a 5-gallon bucket, and you fill it with whatever kind of oranges you want. Prices run from 10-12 dollars for 5 gallons of citrus. They also have a gator to see, and the place has a very nice old Florida feel.”

“Very Friendly folks. This is a great family outing. We will definitely make this a tradition. The oranges are excellent also. The drive out is very relaxing has you leave the city and traffic disappears.”

“Great prices and very friendly service. Owned by a wonderful couple that run the whole place themselves and they don't use any pesticides on their citrus. Definitely a fun place to go on the weekends.”

“We had fun picking oranges and tangerines! The new owners just bought the place and are planning some new renovations and trees. They were really nice and we bought some fresh watermelons too!”

“Loved picking the oranges, and lemons! So much fun, and a great value. The owner is also really friendly. Would definitely return, and recommend!”

“None of the oranges were ripe. We couldn't come close to filling a bucket so we decided to just pick a few lemons and leave. The man in charge "Bob" said he was going to charge us $10 just for coming in. At first I thought he was joking but then he muttered that we were "wasting his time." He wasn't joking he was just rude. We left and will not return. Don't waste your time.”
