Before you go
A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Nebraska.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“Vala's Pumpkin Patch is an absolute must-visit for anyone looking to get into the fall spirit! From the moment you arrive, the atmosphere is magical. The variety of activities is incredible—there's something for everyone, whether you're a kid or a kid at heart. The pumpkin selection is fantastic, with pumpkins of all shapes and sizes ready for carving. The food is delicious, the corn maze is a blast, and the staff are all incredibly friendly and helpful. It's the perfect place to make wonderful autumn memories with family and friends. We can't wait to go back next year!”

“We had an amazing time here. This place is basically a theme park with how huge it is. You definitely need a map to get around. They have amazing hard cider. Booths are conveniently placed around the park as well as food vendors and plenty of activities. You can even rent a fire pit for the day. The park is beautifully landscaped and decorated, there is so much to see. Will definitely be back next year with the family. Strollers and wagons are a must if you visit! Payments are cashless but they have reloadable gift cards you can use if needed.”

“It was my first time ever visiting but I had an absolute blast taking in all the fun and beautiful scenery. I dabled in a few ciders which I ended up buying a few bottles of on my way out and of course a caramel dipped apple. So much to do in a day I cant wait to go back ! I 100% recommend enjoying a full day there with good company but wear your walking shoes because you will want to explore everything !”

“Go early & buy tickets online! We spent 6 hours there and still didn’t make it to everything! There’s no shortage of things to do for all ages. Lots of places to eat, explore, and some hands-on things to do. Take a comfortable backpack and good walking shoes! All of the rides were free, hands on (you-pick flowers) activities were extra but worth the time it took and amount you could take, I felt like.”

“Overall, was a great time. Once you pay the entrance fee, there are a lot of little low maintenance activities you can do for free (non-jumpscare haunted houses, mini golf in a shed, jump pads, corn seed pit, corn maze, etc.). The apple tree ride was a nice free surprise in the back. Expect theme park prices for food and drink. Other big activities like apple picking, rock sifting, and apple launchers cost money naturally. Its called a pumpkin patch, but the theme is very clearly apple orchard related. Lots of cider & hard cider options from drinks to slushies. They have some weird shops that sell tacky junk and not Valas related theme items. Kids enjoyed the little attractions going on around the park (patch?) Such as live music, small comedy skits & circus acts, face painting, train ride, etc. Advice: Do apple picking last so you don't have to carry the bag around. Wear good walking shoes, you'll be doing a lot of that. Go earlier in the day, less crowded.”

“I won a pair of tickets through the school I work for. My son and I spent the day enjoying the farm. We picked pumpkins and took lots of pictures. It was a beautiful day and we had a great time. My favorite part was picking the Pink Lady and Granny Smith apples. That was a great deal too. Oh, the food was good, but a bit overpriced. The reason for the four stars. We had a brisket and rib combo that was delicious. Their Mac and cheese would make you want to slap your mama; it was so good. I had a hard cider that was excellent and their nonalcoholic cider for kids was also delectable. Overall, it is a wonderful place to make family memories, just make sure you have a lot of money in the bank to cover expenses. Did I mention, it is a cashless facility. So, don’t bother pulling money from the bank, they won’t take it.”
