Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Massachusetts.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“We were looking for the best strawberry-picking farm near Boston, which we'd never been to, and this place was just perfect. Today was the second day of strawberry picking for this season and we absolutely got some delicious strawberries. And yes, their strawberries are by far the best ones—very juicy, incredibly fragrant, and sweet, far superior to any store-bought strawberries. The price was $12 per person, which I think was very reasonable. They still have plenty of strawberries left to pick, and I wish I had picked more. Parking was easy as well, and we also loved their vegetarian wrap from the cafe. We will definitely go back for more picking. One note for improvement: there were no designated pathways to get to the strawberry-picking area, so it was a bit confusing, and I didn't notice any signs either. The season probably just started, so they are still figuring things out. Highly recommend. 10/10”

“We've been coming to Verrill Farm every strawberry season since 2020, and it's become one of our family's favorite traditions. We even tried another pick-your-own farm once, but we still ended up coming back to Verrill Farm the same year because, honestly, they have the sweetest and best strawberries in the area. Our kids absolutely love it here. This year (2026), we missed the photo boards where you could put your face through them—they had become part of our annual family picture tradition! But we also loved the new additions and improvements around the farm. They made the visit even more enjoyable. Thank you for continuing to make this such a special place for our family. We can't wait to come back next season!”

“We popped in on our way to Mahoney's Garden Center. Looked really big on the outside. They had a deli so hubby and I split a grilled cheese. It was AMAZING. Best grilled cheese on the planet. Hubby and I have a date in 1 month to go back for another grilled cheese because it was so good. They also had some gorgeous desserts, but we decided not to get any as we already had dinner reservations, but definitely next time. Everyone there was super friendly. Bathrooms were clean. Food prices were comparable to a regular grocery store but definitely not as big as selection. Definitely worth a visit.”

“Flower picking at Verrill Farm is such a fun and adventurous experience under the sun surrounded by beautiful wildflowers! My fiancé and I had a romantic time together in the fields — it felt peaceful and joyful. The flowers are very reasonably priced and last for many days. We also attended the pancake breakfast event a different day under the tent, and it was absolutely delicious! It was so nice to see families with children enjoying the morning and the live music added such a warm touch. Highly recommended for a perfect weekend outing!”

“We had great experience. Purchased field admission tickets online $10 each.that allows on field and every adult ticket includes pick n take home 5 sunflowers. They got more produce for sale and deli inside to grab food. Can eat inside or outside lots of space to hang around take pictures.”

“Beautiful experience, it is an historic farm. Everything from produce, fresh pasta, plants and very cute garden decor. Baked goods are worth a try.”

“My fav PYO strawberry farm! Their store also has great offerings of fresh produce.”

“I was really looking forward to visiting this farm and supporting a local business, but unfortunately my experience trying to get basic information was disappointing. I called ahead because we are driving a significant distance and just needed a clearer idea of when strawberry picking would likely be available. The first staff member I spoke with was unable to provide details and directed me to social media, which I totally understood but do not have. I then politely asked if I could speak with someone more familiar with the schedule, just to see if there was any general timeframe available. When the manager came on the line, I felt the interaction was quite abrupt. I tried to explain our situation, but I was told again to check social media before I could fully ask my question. I politely tried to say 'oh I'm still talking' just so I could explain I don't have social media and she totally ignored me and kept going stating the first person I spoke with had the information I needed (?) I just wanted to know if they thought strawberries would be available June 1st. I completely understand that farm schedules can be weather-dependent and change quickly. Clearer communication and a bit more patience would have been very helpful, especially for customers traveling from farther away. I was simply trying to plan a visit and support the farm. Hopefully this feedback helps improve customer communication going forward.”
