Planning a cherry trip
How it works
Orchards usually sell by the bag or half-bushel, and the size you buy sets what you can fill. Staff direct you to the varieties that are ripe that week — an orchard is rarely all ready at once.
Varieties ripen in sequence across several weeks, so call ahead and ask what's on the trees rather than assuming the whole season is the same trip.
What to bring
- Cash, and a card as backup
- A wagon or stroller if you're bringing small children — rows can be long
- Closed shoes; orchard ground is uneven and often muddy
