Before you go
A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Illinois.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“We've been to Applejack Acres just about every year for the past 5 years or so. We've always had a great time as an annual family event. Applejack is a family-run orchard that is all you need in the apple-picking experience. It's you-pick, and just the apples. Sometimes cider and eggs are available too, but this isn't a big commercial operation pushing all the things beyond the apples. We always eat a few as we go along. They have a variety of red delicious (not like what's in the grocery store), cortland, and more I can't recall. I highly recommend it!”
“Is this sweet apple acres from mlp Omg I found real sweet apple acres sad that I'm on the other side of earth”
“They were closed and looked abandoned but still advertised on Facebook. They need to take their page”
