A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Michigan.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“Whole family enjoyed our time in this Farm.It was crowded on Saturday but big enough to comfortably tour around. Large play area with tons of inflatables, sand boxes with ride on excavators, tricycle tracks jumping pillows, petting farm, play structures, corn maze all take whole day with kids. There was lots of fresh goods for sale in their artisan market. We tried all of the doughnuts. All of it was warm fresh and great.Tours of the farm and the option to pick your own apples is best part. We were suprised and were happy there were food truck options especially for the halal one!Stuff was helpful and friendly. I want to give a shout-out to this gentleman who works on the Train Rides! We were the only family there, yet he still operated it with such pleasure and enthusiasm. Then, all of a sudden, it started to rain heavily and he got completely soaked on the way back .But he kept going with smile! Hope you give him a raise — he truly deserves it!”

“First time stopping here. Was disappointed but very happy there was construction that made me take a detour on the way to the hospital. I have been to another location and this location held up the familiar reputation. It's slightly smaller which was nice needing a break from heavy population but definitely had everything I was looking for. The strawberries were amazing and just what I needed to learn how to make strawberry syrup and jam for the first time. The older gentleman was very helpful and exceeded my expectations for customer service. He brought the small hometown feel I personally prefer. Plenty of space to roam and fun activities for the littles even if there's not a big event going on that day. If you like to explore and compare companies with different locations, good luck deciding which location is best as so far they are each unique in their own little ways.”

“Went and visited Blake’s in south Lyon for upick strawberries for the first time and it did not disappoint!!! The crop is beautiful and we got some really nice berries!! Shout out to the strawberry attendant, I think her name was karen. She was so sweet and so knowledgeable about the berries. She was great with the little ones as well!! Also the staff in the cider mill was fantastic, so kind and willing to help!! Not to add the kids love love love the Funland, $5.00 fridays you can’t beat it. We heard about the membership and can’t wait to sign up for that as well. We are so glad they took over for the other farm and kept the farm tradition alive. The strawberries and whole experience at the south Lyon location was 10/10 would 100% recommend. We are counting down the days to Apple season!! Thank you Blake’s south lyon for keeping the farm going and improving every year!”

“Accidentally found this place and decided to stop by. Very clean and well organized store. Very friendly staff. We had a cider mill and donuts and they are so fresh and great taste. We also bought a some jams and butter. They are so good. Outside of picnic area is very relaxed. We were their like a pre-open for the season, so there not much available yet. We will definitely go back there again once season is on.”

“We made our first visit to Blake's South Lyon, formerly Erwin Orchards. They accept credit cards for apple picking and inside the cider mill. The cider is great as apple juice, the donuts weren't as warm or as moist. It's clear they care about the facilities, everything looks cleaner, brighter and more polished than Erwin's ever kept it. Coming opening weekend is a tradition for our family, we look forward to seeing how they continue to improve as they move forward. It's hard not to compare Erwin's to Blake's. The idea of instituting a wristband for activities that previously were free might upset some, we really enjoyed feeding the goats previously which is no longer an option but they do have a much larger enclosure which is great. Their website stated that there were two types of apples to pick and when we got on the tractor, they told us we could only pick a single variety, which isn't the kind we came for. We should have asked at the window before paying, that's our fault. We asked if there was a list of when other apples would be offered and the tractor driver stated there may be a list later in the season. I'm bummed that none of the items in the store are made on site and most aren't even Blake's produce, they're just labeled for Blake's. We hope they continue to improve, feeding the goats and getting cider and donuts every weekend was part of our fall traditions, we won't continue this with Blake's if the donuts stay dry and cider unflavorful.”

“My husband ordered a peach crumb pie from here, picked it up today … I was very disappointed! , the crumb topping was soggy and burnt and some of the sliced peaches in pie were not peeled, they were hard & crunchy … I will not purchase this pie again”
