Before you go
A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Wisconsin.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“Small family-owned and operated farm in the rural Hartford countryside. Beautiful location with a single field to pick from. Small parking lot in front of the house, plus parking on the road if needed. Portable toilet available. Cash or check only, charging $3 per pound this year (expect a heaping flat to run between $33 and $45), which is on par or slightly less expensive than other farms in the area. Berries are small but so sweet and not at all woody (as some of the large varietals can be), with very little pest pressure.”

“Our family had a great experience picking strawberries. It’s not a huge farm - which made it easier to get around. The berries are not sprayed. We’ve been to natural farms before - only to find tons and tons of thistles. But this place was great! A few weeds here and there - but nothing bad at all. The strawberries are a little smaller - but very delicious and sweet. We will be back next year! Cash or check only. *And only because another review mentioned it… we came with kids ages 2-13. We were treated fine.”

“Small family run berry patch. No pesticides used. Very reasonably priced. We picked the second day of the season and with the unusual weather we're having the berries weren't huge and super red, but oh are they sweet!! Highly recommend.”

“Amazing! Organized with the way people pick berries. Staff (family) was friendly and excited to see us all the way from Illinois. I would highly recommend this family farm.”

“My wife and son had an absolutely terrible time at this farm and were treated very poorly by the owner/farmer. Upon arrival he came out and told them they were closed even though they do not have publicly posted hours claiming they were "picked out already." A daughter of the farmer came out and informed them that he was lying and helped guide them to where they could begin picking berries. Throughout the course of their time there the farmer on multiple instances yelled at our son because he was being curious, something toddlers are prone to do. At one point full on screaming at our son until the little one fully broke down into tears. I suggest anyone looking for a fun time picking fruit with little ones go elsewhere as this IS NOT A PLACE TO BRING SMALL CHILDREN. They will not be treated well.”

“Today we called and listened to a voice mail tell us the current date and time they opened. We drove 34 mins to get there and they were closed (3 hours after opening). We will never try this place again... back to Basse's we go!”
