Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Alabama.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“My family and I just moved from VA to Auburn, AL right before Christmas. Since our daughter is small, we wanted to make the holiday magical and finding Choctafaula was just that. My daughter loved seeing the Christmas lights, of course, but being able to see and interact with the animals was such a huge highlight of our experience. The owner’s are the sweetest, most down to earth people you will meet and truly care about your experience there. Christmas lights, photo opportunities, giraffes, camels, llamas, reindeer, donkeys, and highland cows… what more could you ask for when looking for a magical Christmas night? Our first experience was so amazing that when our extended family from Virginia came down, we took them all to enjoy Choctafaula too! This will most definitely be a Christmas tradition for me and my family and hopefully yours too!”

“We went around noon on a Saturday, lots of people but everything moves quick and there isn’t a long wait. There’s bouncy houses, rock climbing, trampoline things, pony rides, camel rides, petting zoo, monkeys, hayrides, live music, food gift shop, photo ops, play areas, corn pit, pumpkin patch. I think it was 37.00 dollars for two regular tickets with no add ons but the pumpkins are typically priced for a pumpkin patch. They have horses, monkeys, parrots, sheep, goats, camels, emus, donkeys, and some dogs around too. All of the workers are very helpful and friendly. This is a great family oriented place. Thank you for having us!!”

“We had an absolutely amazing field trip at Choctafaula! The entire experience was incredibly well-organized, informative, and so enjoyable for both students and adults. The property itself is beautiful, clean, and thoughtfully maintained. As a teacher of 22 years, I can confidently say this was the best field trip I have ever taken my students on. The wagon ride was top-notch, and the animal show was truly captivating! It was engaging not only for the kids but for the adults as well. This is a must-visit destination for schools looking for a meaningful, fun, and memorable experience!”

“Absolutely amazing experience for my daughter's graduation from Auburn University! Management was super easy to work with, very attentive to details, and responded in a timely manner. The staff helped to ensure we had everything we needed. They even surprised my girl with a baby kangaroo and baby wallaby petting session! Day made! Would absolutely recommend this venue for your events!”

“Such a family friendly place! I sent my child to their camp and it was an amazing experience. My child felt loved and was safe and I felt great as a parent dropping him off and seeing him smile when I picked him up. He learned so much. I highly recommend a visit and anything they put on! Wonderful family and staff too!”
