Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in North Carolina.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“I visited Cody Strawberry Farm in Richfield, NC with my grandsons, and it was a highlight of our spring. This has become our favorite annual tradition for U-pick strawberries. The boys had a blast picking fresh strawberries, running around the playground, and cooling off with a strawberry slushie. I also made sure to grab a jar of their homemade strawberry jelly—it’s delicious! The staff was incredibly friendly, the parking was easy and accommodating, and the prices are very affordable for families. If you are looking for a great family outing or a fun farm experience in Stanly County, this is it. We will definitely be back for more local strawberries and farm fun soon!”

“Nothing better than fresh strawberries! Owners are always friendly and helpful. Prices are high but worth every penny compared to grocery store berries! My daughter bought strawberries from Food Lion the same day I bought fresh from here. We did our own experiment and cut into both and even visually there was a huge difference! Cody Farm berries were red/pink in the center, the others were white inside! And of course no sugar needed on the vine ripened berries! Delicious 🍓”

“I have been going there since two years and loved the picking there. Small play area for kids is great. Price is reasonable. There are fresh veggies produced. I buy eggs from there too. Perfect place for family to go with kids and enjoy the farm. Strawberries are very sweet. I would recommend this place.”

“Great place to pick your own strawberrys 🍓. The strawberrys are nice and fresh and delicious. Along with coming in a large container. Definitely will be better strawberrys than most of the local grocery stores. I recommend visiting and trying out some strawberries from the Cody's.”

“We had a lovely experience picking strawberries at Cody Strawberry Farm. They also have a pick your own flowers option. There is a nice hand washing station, playground, picnic area, and concession stand available.”

“Amazing farm! Very clean and organized! They have a playground for kiddos and a cute lake! Highly recommend! And strawberries, so juicy and sweet, that dark red color, yummy!!!”

“Went for their Tulip Picking and it was such a great day! Lemonade slushies and boiled peanuts, too! Take the kids lots of fun things for them to do and lots of picture spots!”

“Fun, friendly, and fresh! We loved picking strawberries (I picked, the kids ate). After our hard work we enjoyed strawberry slushies and the playground.”
