A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Indiana.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

The experience of apple picking is not only fun but also a great way to enjoy the outdoors before the season ends. Don't miss their charming gift shop, which offers unique, healthy goodies you won't find anywhere else. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Cooke Orchard is a must-visit destination for a delightful day of family fun!”

“We had a wonderful first visit! Despite us being late to the picking season. Linda was so lovely and helpful to us! She was a joy to talk to and made sure we had all the information to help us have the best experience! There’s a lovely variety of apples that are fresh and delicious! The prices are incredibly reasonable. We got our share of apples, baked goods, honey, beeswax candles, and apple butter! We cannot wait to return next year!”

“What an awesome find! We stumbled on this little gem while visiting Fort Wayne. The little farm shop is so cute and well stocked with jams, jellies, apple butter, pickled products, honeys, syrups, popcorn, etc. Prices are incredibly reasonable, some downright shocked me compared to how heavily things cost from where we are from. Fresh chicken and duck eggs for days, too. Highly recommend.”

“I stopped in to get a cup of hot cider for the 2nd time in a week. The employee was an older man with a cart of apples standing in front of the carafe, who screamed at me for grabbing a styrofoam cup. He yelled NO NO NO - READ THE SIGN - IT IS NOT SELF SERVE. Could not believe the level of rudeness this old grump displayed to me and in front of 3 other customers. I turned around and walked out for the last time. No cider is worth that.”

“Definitely don’t recommend for a field trip. They gave us bags to pick 6 apples and that’s it. No showing us how they make cider, no education about apples. Not even a story. Fine if you want to pick apples but if you’re looking for a field trip idea I would skip this one”
