In October, check what’s currently ripe before you go. Seasons below are typical windows for Michigan, not a guarantee for this exact farm.

Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Michigan.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“Been going to the farm since hearing about it in 2015, and have never been disappointed. We started out with mostly black and red currant, but now are picking a lot of gooseberries. Prices are great, and the owners are very friendly. We just got back from our annual trip and now we are set with black currants and gooseberries!”

“Yulia and Jerry welcomed us as Harvest Host guests for a night and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Not only is the farm absolutely beautiful but the wine is fantastic. You are in for a treat if you try the autumn olive wine - the only wine of its kind in the world!”

“I believe this is the only black currant and gooseberry farm in michigan. I visited last weekend and happy I did! Berries and sweet and sour a little, big, reasonable prices. They also have red and white currants. It's far from Detroit area but worth the trip!”

“This is a pick-your-own farm. I don't know if any other farm in Michigan growing currants and gooseberries. The owners are very nice and easy to work with. I think they also have a currant wine they are making with a tasting room.”

“Had a blast with my 5 year old. It was exactly what I had hoped for a nice low-key local farm. Hannah the pup was adorable loved to eat the currents. We picked Goose berries and black currents it was amazing we will be back :)”

“No tasting room, but don’t let that stop you from buying their wine. We tried a bottle of the black current semi-sweet and immediately bought six more. Friendly owner, nice property, tasty product. Would visit again!”

“Very friendly and helpful, and very knowledgeable about currants, gooseberries, and other fruit. I'm happy I found this place!”

“Very beautiful farm with rare and tasty berries. Was fun U-picking it)))”
