Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in North Carolina.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“This is absolutely a beautiful place to get apples!!! I love to come here!!! The store offer so many unique items that you just don’t see anywhere else!!! While you are there, make sure to pick you up a fried pie and apple fritter!!! They are so good!!! I love to buy their apples in bulk!!! Some of the best prices around!!! They also have a kids playground to stop and have a bit of fun!!! I have seen some reviews that said it is too close to the road, but it is a good 25-30 yards from the road. Plenty of space for the kiddos to have some fun!!! They also offer pick your own apples!!! I remember coming here as a kid to pick apples with my family!!! I remember being delighted to find the biggest apple I could!!! Picking your own apples is a sure way to make lifetime memories!!! Thanks Coston’s!!!”

“The lady who I talked with was very friendly and nice. My husband and I came at the end of September on a Wednesday and it was only us and one other person in the store. It was quite nice because we came to the area on October 9th & that road was backed up with people trying to checkout the other apple stands/orchards. So my advice is to avoid coming on weekends if possible because it gets crowded!! But this place in particular is closed on Sunday’s and we enjoyed our time here. We picked our own apples which were delicious! We also go an apple cider slushie and apple cider and it was yummy!!”

“If I could give them 10 stars I would!! When we arrived I could immediately feel the love in the environment there!! Felt so at home. The lady was super nice and when it I told them I had dome a homeschooling trip from my little girl and nephew she gave us a few pamphlets to look at and an activity book :) best place to be if you ask me :) Check out their hand made things as well! Don't forget about the apples! ♥️ thank you for being there and thank you for allowing us to enjoy your store 😊”

“Great little apple house with a nice family atmosphere and cool little nick-nacks with alot of local and hand-made items. It's a little tight inside with breakable items so got to keep the little ones on a short leash but good tasty treats and even when busy they get you through pretty quickly.”

“Definitely my favorite place for delicious apples and unique jams on the agricultural corridor stretch. B.e.a.r jam is my absolute favorite. Everyone is always so nice. And their apples are most tasty.”

“Really friendly people, and beautiful scenery. Prices were not to bad either. I highly recommend checking them out. It's fun for the whole family.”

“I really enjoyed stopping here. They had a nice gift items at the other Apple places along chimney. Rock Road did not have.”

“Nothing spectacular they got apples they got fried pies they got other little treats they got souvenirs they have a playground they got some apple trees that you can pick some apples. But they're right next to highway 64 I wouldn't take my grandkids here because I'd be too worried about them wandering out in the highway or the car's entering and exiting the highway into the entrance of the place because it's so close to the playground. Have to staff was really nice have the staff was giving me the stink eye like I was stealing stuff walking around with my dog or something. There are other orchards that are much better and more family friendly than this one The only way I would stop here again is if I was in a hurry and I needed something directly off the road and didn't get right back on again.”
