What visitors say

“The Des Moines' Downtown Farmer's Market is my absolute favorite way to spend my summer Saturday mornings! I enjoy just walking around and chatting with the vendors as much as spending all the money I shouldn't be spending on all the things! 😁 AND the BEST part? Getting to love on all the fur babies!!! You don't HAVE to spend a fortune at the market, but do take a gander at all the splendor from farm fresh goods, fresh flowers, handmade treats for peoples and the furry babes to all the handmade goods you could dream of! We typically stop at a few of our favorite food vendors and grab some breakfast and coffee. Then, we wonder aimlessly, spotting some of the best offerings and nabbing all the cool finds I can get my hands on. You MUST purchase a burlap Farmer's Market bag while at the official Farmer's Market booth. They aren't cheap at $25 per bag, but they are THE BEST reusable bags I've found yet and worth EVERY penny!”

“It’s great way to start your day. Depending on your comfort with crowds make it an early start! The variety of booths are great! I love dogs and you’ll see a lot of them. It seemed like most owners are responsible enough to only bring pets that are sociable with other pets and people. The food is great and you’ll likely run into someone you know. It’s a nice place to learn something from local business owners. Again…I suggest you come early and beat the crowd.”

“Experienced the Farmers Market for the first time today. It was a lovely experience. There was a variety of fresh food stalls, baked goods and homemade items. There are food trucks available as well. I would recommend going early as by 09:00 it was already getting packed. People do stroll through rather slowly so if you are a faster walker, be prepared to zigzag through the crowd.”

“What an amazing Farmer's Market! This is not your average Farmer's Market and if you are in the area you HAVE to go. They had just about everything you could think of fruits and vegetables, coffee, pastries, flowers, crafts, live music (multiple locations). We spent a little over 2 hours here and would do it again. Well done Des Moines!”

“Very large farmers market that has something for everyone, including the dog. There were a lot of people. Lots of great choices for food, ready to eat. Also very nice fresh vegetables, fruit, crafts and handmade items. The setting is in the downtown area with plenty to see. The parking wasn't a problem, but we were there fairly early.”

“One of the BEST farmers markets in the Country. Dozens of local farm booths with fruits, vegetables, beef, pork and dairy. MANY different ethnic foods. Delicious meat and riced wrapped in cabbage leaves in a spicy red sauce from Bosnia!”

“Enjoy the Saturday morning with a stroll through the Downtown Farmer’s Market. Where there is farm fresh eggs, vegetables, handmade treats like Dutch letters, fresh flowers and live music.”

“One of the largest & most diverse farmers markets in Iowa & Midwest.”
