Before you go
A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in North Carolina.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“I called before making the trip. I was told that I had to pick my own apples unless I had a disability and could not. I opted for another orchard just because I was not dressed for picking apples. However the other orchard was closed so I ended up here anyway. The owners were very friendly and made jokes about me being over dressed for picking apples. After I had picked about half of a bushel the husband came out and asked if I needed help. I declined because I could reach the apples without the use of a ladder and I found picking the apples very relaxing. Later he came back with the golf cart to retrieve my bushel when I was finished picking. The apples are delicious. My bushel weighed 42.5 pounds. I canned them and made vinegar with the peels and cores. I’ll definitely be going back.”

“Nice, family-run orchard with pick-your-own apples. They offer several sizes of baskets and buckets to fill with golden delicious and red delicious apples (which taste far superior to those bought in the grocery store). The trees are old and tall, so many of the apples are up high, but they do have ladders to access them. Before you go, be aware they only accept cash.”

“Chill, small, family-owned orchard. It's the end of the season, but they've got lovely apples, if you're willing to climb a ladder to grab them down.”
