Before you go
A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in North Carolina.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“EDIT: Came back this year with the pup again. Lots of pumpkin varieties and gourds. Definitely one of our favorite annual adventures. Their pumpkins are fairly priced. Pumpkins are available in large varieties of shapes and colors. We stopped by the last week of October and saw lots of good quality pumpkins, gourds, and mums. DJ's Berry Patch is also leashed dog friendly so bring your pup with you when coming over to pick pumpkins. Lots of photo opportunities with your family. There are also other fresh produce available like sweet potatoes as well as homemade ice cream.”

“We went for the first time at DJ’s Berry Patch for Strawberry picking and had an amazing time. First of all the entry is free and you just have to pay for the strawberry that you pick, big white bucket cost $17 and mini basket cost $6 which was very budget friendly. The strawberries were full of flavor and juicy. They also had flowers for sale and home made ice cream which was flavorful. Would love to come again and again.”

“Really great and lush fields of strawberries! We go pretty often, the kids love being able to pick their own. Delicious. As a hot tip though, the ones they pick for you in the buckets seem to taste much better. If you want to pick your own, just do a few, but I'd get the rest from their pre picked. Oh and obviously go early in the day and midweek before others pick the best ones!”

“We visited DJ’s Berry Patch with the family, and it was such a fun and refreshing experience. It was our first time doing pick-your-own strawberries, and we really enjoyed it. The place was full of families and happy kids running around with buckets. The strawberries were fresh and sweet, and the whole vibe was super relaxed. Definitely a great spot for a family outing!”
