Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Minnesota.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

What visitors say

“Great place for the true pumpkin picking experience! They have many fields and we found some really nice pumpkins. The parking and admission are free and the price of everything else is very reasonable. There are some cute photo opportunities and decorations around the farm. Activity wise there are some little cars for smaller kids to ride on, tic tac toe with pumpkins, wagon rides, and a silo you can go inside and slide out of. Very friendly people and a really great place for families!”

“We've gone to this patch two years in a row. So many cute staged photo spots. huge variety and really inexpensive! We left with two massive wagons full of pumpkins for under $100. They also have jelly, jam, honey and other cute stuff. Highly recommend. This place is our new family tradition yearly spot. Love the owners. We have great conversations with him each year.”

“When you first walk in there are huge pumpkins. My kids loved it!! They picked so many pumpkins and we got them for a really good price. We also had the chance to meet farmer John himself. Very very nice guy! We hope that farmer John will keep doing this every year!”

“Visiting Farmer John's Pumpkin Patch is a yearly tradition that we love sharing with new friends in the community. This year we went with our Chinese friends. It is always memorable and had lots of learning opportunities.”

“My family and l had a wonderful time. It was the first time the boys got to pick their own pumpkins from a pumpkin patch. With the pandemic there's not much a family can do. Thanks for opening your farm.”
