Before you go
A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Minnesota.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“My kids ages 4 and 6 just finished red barns 4 day farm camp and can’t stop talking about everything they got to do, see, and learn. Brenna and her family are such an asset to the community. The family opens their farm to the community year after year to allow us to see the beloved farm animals up close and even get to feed a few:). The farm camp experience was top notch, the kids keep telling me about all of these cool facts about animals that are housed at the farm, about crafts, snacks, free play, how the animals are fed, and even cute little stories about different animals behaviors. Where else could you do that and experience that? Farm camp and all of our visits to the red barn have been worth every penny. I am so glad our family found this unique place. The holiday events that are put on are also a must see. For Halloween their farm is transformed into a beautiful pumpkin patch with cute displays and photo opportunities. For Easter the egg hunt is so well put together. My kids have been to other egg hunts but insist we got to that one year after year. They always find plenty of eggs and love trying to find the golden egg. A few years back we hired the red barn to bring a pony out to our home for a “cow girl” party. I still years later get compliments about how fun the pony rides were. Five stars from me and our family. Thank you to Brenna and the Scanlan crew for making farm camp and every visit so special for me and my children.”

“My son loves it here. They have so many animals to feed and pet, sand box, slides, swings, corn pit, basketball hoops, puzzles and play farm house, food for the animals to feed. A ton of room to roam with a picnic area too, perfect for lunch or snack time. They have sinks & porta potty’s onsite too which is so great to have. We will continue to support these guys for many years to come. Always a treat to go to red barn!”

“Great place for a family experience. Variety of activities for kids of all ages; animals, jumping pads, pony rides, slides, sand boxes, corn maze, play equipment, and more. Animals seem happy, and the grounds appear clean. They sell food on site at very reasonable prices. Employees are friendly. Parking can be tight.”

“Easter there was so much fun! While it was a bit crowded, we thoroughly enjoyed reading and learning about the animals! We paid a “barn fee” for not just myself but grandma grandpa and mom as well as the child fee. The extent of what was actually IN the barn was not much for the fees we had to pay…perhaps family rates or for just the child to be charged would make more sense. I get they are running a business, however grandparents were only there for the photos, so we paid the fee for everyone to take our OWN photos….it was costly.”
