Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in North Carolina.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
  • Payment notes on file: Mastercard. Cash still helps at smaller stands.

“I have ordered wholesale quantities from Finch Blueberry Nursery and received excellent service, especially considering that my order was relatively small. Best service that I have received from a wholesale nursery. Two reasons I went to them: First, the original owner of my house planted a blueberry hedge with plants from them over 30 years ago and they are still healthy and producing well. Second, they came highly recommended from a horticulturalist at NC State. The plants I ordered came healthy and well packed. I was particularly impressed with the quality of the packaging and the handling. I ordered one year old bare-root plants - much more sensitive than older bare-root or potted plants - but the few that I lost in hardening them off in containers was made up for by a few extra plants that they included. That is to say, there was much less attrition than I expected from my experience with bare-root plants. Again very impressed with the quality of their product.”

“I had an amazing experience with Finch Nursery for getting blueberry plants. I had multiple calls with them, which probably would annoy anyone else, requesting information about a new variety that they had for 2 year old plants. Sadly, they only had first year plants. Taking my chances and hoping they would survive, I ordered the first year plants. Fast forward 2 weeks, I received my order and was pleasantly surprised to find 2 year plants. On the order a small note said, "I ordered from a friend for you." The folks at Finch Nursery realized that I may not know what I'm doing with first year plants (rightly so) and went out of their way to ensure my success. Phenomenal people, I highly recommend them for anything blueberry related.”

“Best blueberry size and selection hands down. The prices are great and the bushes are larger than expected! Pleasantly surprised and will be recommending to everyone we know to buy here. Very friendly and knowledgeable about the products that they sell. We drove down to pick up in person rather than have them shipped. We had ordered from other online nurseries in the past and had bad experiences. Avoid dimeo at all costs!”

“Ordered 30 Blueberry plants from Finch Nursery. The plants were understandably delayed by a winter storm. I was kept up to date on the status of the order by phone. When they were able to ship, the plants were as large or larger than I expected and incredibly healthy. Two weeks later in a warmer south Texas, the buds are about to open on 100% of the plants. I would highly recommend Finch Blueberry Nursery.”

“It did take some time get in contact with them, no fault of their own. We were able to get things squared away and they were really nice to work with. They mainly do commercialized sales. We got 20 bare root blueberry bushes and are planning on going back for 20 more.”

“Best Bluebird nesting box around! It's time to make sure you're prepared for the Bluebird nesting season.”

“Amy needs to learn how to communicate with customers if she wants to run a successful business. I emailed and called numerous times to get ahold of this nursery to ask a couple of questions and even place an order and when I did get a hold of them Amy was nothing, but rude and unhelpful. She wouldn’t let me speak, when I did manage to get a few words in she misconstrued what I said and what’s worst is she literally laughed at me when I told her I just wanted 1 planet. What does it matter if I want 1 or 100 plants I’m a customer. I tried to tell her why I just needed one, but she kept cutting me off. I will be purchasing blueberries elsewhere. Negative 10 out of 10 seriously.”

“I contacted them about ordering a package of blueberries. They called me back to schedule pickup. I called them back and left a voicemail to schedule pickup. Never received a call back. Called again a week or so later, no answer. Sent an email. Called again and left another voicemail. Sent another email. I really wanted to order blueberries locally but seems it's impossible to get ahold of them and set up a time to pick some up. If I ever get a response and have the opportunity to plant their berries i will definitely leave an updated review.”
