Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Michigan.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
  • Payment notes on file: American Express, Discover, Mastercard, VISA. Cash still helps at smaller stands.

What visitors say

“This is a very well managed retail establishment. It’s in a new and very clean building. They have lots of employees to answer your questions. Ton of unique food items… stuff you don’t see very often. I particularly like the dried cherries, the jams, as well as the produce. They have a nice selection of Pasties, as well as the café, offering lots of other food items. They also have nice outdoor spaces with a playground for kids. This place is definitely worth a visit, however, bring plenty of money because, not surprisingly, quality like this is not inexpensive.”

“Really glad we stopped here on the way to Charlevoix. The pizza was top quality, and the burger was possibly the best there is. The country setting was relaxing, and you can eat inside or outside. The store has lots of unique, high-quality items. We tried the beef jerky and a smoothie; both were the best. We need to go back for more. I just wish we lived closer, but it's worth going out of your way to come here. Great place, great food, great atmosphere.”

“Very clean and beautiful location. Limited selection on cafe menu, but all look good. Had a fantastic salad topped with fresh blueberries. Very large size ( it was $20). The Quiche was also very good. The bakery and market choices were really good. Beautiful outdoor play area for kids. It's not a inexpensive place, but definitely top notch service. Very friendly staff.”

“We had the best time at friske farm market! 🍓 The strawberries were amazing—so fresh and sweet. So many bakery treats and food options to choose from, plus free samples of salsa & jams. The kids loved all the play areas too, an inside unique play area and outside which made it such a fun family stop. Definitely a favorite!”

“We had an amazing time at this market. We bought cherries, strawberries, donuts, applesauce, tomatoes, fresh milk and other souvenirs. We love finding hidden gems like this during our traveling. Thank you so much friskes farm market!!”

“Loved the cherry pie and Liberty iced latte. They also have a cafe inside and a playground inside and outside for the kids. A variety of items are sold ie mugs, vegetables, milk, desserts, so many things to look at and buy.”

“This is a harvest host destination. They also have food on site as well as unique play structures for children. They do have. Pasties on site as well self serve. This was definitely a unique destination. They had quite a few unique opportunities for drinks and food. The cherry pie was awesome and their maple syrup soda was great.”

“Friske has lost the family feel. We used to visit here every year when we were up north. We haven’t been in a couple of years, so this past weekend it was on our to do list. Sadly it has become a commercial money grab. The staff were no longer the same friendly faces but rather an assembly line. It felt cold and impersonal. Nevertheless we spent over $250 between the store and the cafe. Only to then be told it would costs us an additional $10 per kid for them to use the playground. Very disappointed in the experience. There are plenty of farms in the area that still have the family feel. We will visit those in the future.”
