What you can pick

In October, check what’s currently ripe before you go. Seasons below are typical windows for New Jersey, not a guarantee for this exact farm.

Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in New Jersey.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“Best blueberry farm in NJ! We drive over an hour to pick blueberries here twice a year. Besides having great prices, the staff are incredibly friendly. They also sell blueberry related products, such as honey and jam. They provide the buckets for you and will drive you in a wagon to the blueberry rows. If you don’t want to pick your own, blueberries are also available in pints or 10 pound boxes. We like supporting a local farm and we love blueberries!”

“Awesome U-pick blueberry farm!!! Available for about three weeks at the end of June/early July. Duke, Blue Crown and Elisabeth varieties all available. Cute store for honey, syrup, etc. Porta-pottys on site. It’s a real farm, not an agri—tourist trap. Though they do take you out on a wagon! Been coming here happily since 2007.”

“Very large farm with a lot berries for picking. Berries are pretty big and sweet.. Prices are good, they also give you paper box to store the berry at the check out. The people are friendly. Very good experience at the site, definitely coming back in the future.”

“That sounds bittersweet — the last batch always feels extra special 🫐 There’s something about that final picking day… quieter, the berries are a little riper, and you know you won’t get another chance for months”

“Always wonderful time. Bushes are laden with berries. They provide buckets, bags, tractor rides out and back. The staff are sweet and helpful. Always a delight to meet new friends while picking, and share recipes!!”

“Best place for blubber picking. A lot of blueberries. Cheap for lbs. friendly and helpful staff. Vagon. Clean restrooms and water stations with soap. Thank you”

“Always great berries, year after year. Fields are well groomed and berries are plentiful. All the staff is very friendly.”

“We have made the trip to Haines Blue Farm for 30 years. This may be the last one after seeing what they sold us this year. Berries are small, dirty, hard to clean, etc. We bought 12 boxes and a friend bought 3 boxes, for a total of over $400.00. We love giving them to friends and neighbors, but this year all we could do was apologize for the quality of the small (75% pea size) blueberries. good for jam and pie, maybe. I've been tempted to drive them back to the farm. They should be ashamed to take a long time or any customer's advance.”
